Republican scandal versus Democrat scandal: different treatment by the media

Here’s a perfect example of why we hate the media.

John Ensign, evil Republican

John Ensign, evil Republican

When a Republican gets involved in a scandal, the media immediately begins waving the Republican banner. But when a Democrat gets involved in a scandal, party affiliation is buried, if mentioned at all. It happens time after time.

Here’s a perfect example of this media bias from two scandals that reared their ugly heads yesterday:

“Nevada Sen. John Ensign admits affair”

Nevada’s Republican Senator John Ensign admitted Tuesday that he had had an extramarital affair with a female employee. CNN managed to identify Ensign as a Republican in the 52nd word of its story.

How does that contrast to the Associated Press story about Democrat Detroit City Council member Monica Conyers?

“Detroit council’s Conyers snarled in bribes probe”

Monica Conyers, seemingly unaffiliated Detroit City Councilwoman

Monica Conyers, seemingly unaffiliated Detroit City Councilwoman

Detroit City Council woman Monica Conyers is involved in a corruption probe involving cash bribes. AP’s story on the scandal runs 762 words, yet the word “Democrat” is not mentioned. Not once. They hint at the councilwoman’s party affiliation 116 words into the story by saying that her husband is “Rep John Conyers (D-Mich),” but they just can’t bring themselves to actually say the word “de…de…de…democrat.”

The implications of the two stories are clear. John Ensign is an evil Republican. Monica Conyers, apparently just an unaffiliated city council woman.

This is why our readers always say, “I hate the media.”

This is just about ’sex’ and as such doesn’t affect me. But all the scandals from the 100 days of the Obamanut admin DO affect all of us and we should be worried.

Next on your “scandal list” should be sexy Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) of Playboy fundraiser and racy x-mas card fame. The Dems and media have been sitting on her adultery for a long time. She’s doing the same thing and worse than Ensign, but I guess she gets a pass because she’s a woman and a DEM? Liberals are the hypocrites. They say that the “private lives” of politicians should be left alone. But whenever a Republican leader gets caught with his zipper down, they pile on with glee. Thoughts anyone? one of the things that always get me are the attention to cheats, like, no shit, its a politician, chances of affair rise greatly when you have power. unless lying under oath, then maybe this shouldnt be a big deal, let them work it out, not the media.

meanwhile, bribes are, i dunno, ACTUALLY DANGEROUS
