Scientists discover unexpected cause of global warming: the price of a U.S. postage stamp

Stop the global warming presses. Scientists have discovered a remarkable link between rapidly rising world temperatures and…uh…well…United States postage rates.

“The rise in global temperatures since 1880 closely correlates with increases in postal charges,” the study stated, “sparking alarm that CO2 has been usurped as the main driver of climate change.”

As you can see in the chart, the correlation between rise in temperatures and the rise in the price of postage stamps is far closer than the correlation between temperatures and C02.

This tongue-planted-firmly-in-cheek scientific report demonstrates the obvious quite simply: Just because two things correlate doesn’t mean one causes the other.

But all kidding aside, there is one very important lesson to be learned from this study:

We must stop the increase in postage rates, because they’re killing the polar bears.

Oh. my G*d! The postal increases look exactly like a hockey stick! We’re all dead. All dead.

The Liars and Deniers will try ANYTHING to fool rubes like this author.

In this case they are pretending that the only evidence that CO2 is causing global warming is a correlation between atmospheric levels and global mean temperature.

The fact is, there is far more evidence than that. For example we KNOW that CO2 absorbs long wave radiation and re-emits it in all directions meaning that some long wave radiation that would pass through the atmosphere and out into space instead is re-emitted back towards the surface, causing the surface and lower atmosphere to warm, while the upper atmosphere cools.

This has been experimentally proven for over a hundred years.

The mechanism by which CO2 causes global warming is known, understood and measured.

So if these deniers think CO2 doesn’t cause global warming, they better come up for a damn good explanation for why CO2 suddenly stopped obeying the laws of physics.

Of course, they won’t do that because they can’t, so instead they pull bullshit stunts like this and hope that retards like the author of this article don’t notice.

Unfortunately there are a LOT of retards who fall for it every time.

Given the fact that the research you are referencing is all based on CRU numbers that are now proven to be false… will you be the denier or admit that CO2 is has little impact on global climate.

Hey Karmakaze, from the Belfast Telegraph,

Recently the global temperature increased from 1918 to 1940, decreased from 1940 to 1976, increased again from 1976 to 1998 and has been decreasing ever since.
However throughout this time CO2 has been added to the atmosphere in increasing amounts. This point was brought out by at the New York conference by Vaclav Klaus the rotating President of the EU and President of the Czech Republic. If CO2 emissions cause temperature rises than why is it that every 27 years the earth climate switches to a cooling mode with decreasing temperature? Clearly there is another explanation that does not include humans. ……read this http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/environment/pouring-cold-water-on-global-warming-14299972.html

I wonder how growth of the US Government would compare, or the number of laws passed by CONgress? And remember who is EXEMPT from ALL enviromental regulations? Why the US Government of course, more specifically the military which has left a trail of EPA Superfund sites across the nation and the world. And the ‘Goricle’ like most wealthy individuals wants us ALL to pay taxes (i.e. carbon credits) which as the historical record shows will simply be used for other purposes as all tax money is (all the broke ‘tust funds’ the gubmint is supposedly protecting and managing for ‘us’).

well, we have climate change going on. the jury is still ‘out’ about who’s the biggers cause of it, the big bright orb in the sky, and the arms of our Milky Way galaxy, or the rise of Co2 gasses.

my scientific mind says all of these are factors. let’s put it this way, just because another cause of pollution is ruining our drinking water, shall we continue to URINATE IN THE RESERVOIR or DUMP TOXIC WASTE INTO IT?

get my point? why destroy the earth. it’s home. we can’t leave.

BTW, CO2 isn’t a pollutant: Every living thing on Earth, animal and vegetable would be dead without it.

And here are two links debunking the fraudulent Mann Hockey Stick.

BTW, North America is massively cleaner than it was 50 years ago. For example, salmon have returned to Toronto’s rivers; beavers have returned to the Hudson River; and there are commercial fisheries operating in Lake Erie–the ’70s poster child for uncontrolled industrial pollution.
