Sean Penn to star as Larry in “Three Stooges” movie?

We predict that this will be the unfunniest movie ever made

The on-again, off-again casting of Sean Penn in a new Three Stooges movie is back on again.

As the Boston Herald reports, “Sean Penn, who dropped out of the Farrelly Brothers’ “Three Stooges” movie during the bust-up of his marriage, is back on board to play middle Stooge Larry….”

If they need someone to play Curly we have a couple suggestions.

For appearance alone, how about James Carville? Or maybe even Keith Olbermann.

Yeah, we realize that Olbermann looks nothing like Curly, but we can’t imagine anyone we rather poke in the eye.

He is such a douche I think he should play all three parts and poke himself in the eye and slug himself in the gut.

What? He is supposed to be a talented actor, where is the challenge?

He is more suited to play Beavis or Butthead.

I love the 3 Stooges, but I will pass on a movie with Penn. I will stick with the old original films with the real cast. I will not spend any money supporting Sean Penn in any way, shape, or form.

O’Reilly for what I understand is doing the same thing not watching Penn movies. Overall I dont even remember the last Penn movie I saw… maybe Dead Man Walking ?

In any case, I feel the same I am not going to see anything with him and the Three Stooges. He has no humor. Blah.

KQ, Actually, he was very good in something called “Bad Boys”. Not the one with Will Smith from 1995, the Penn movie came out in 1983. Not a bad film.

Different question, why don’t most women like the 3 Stooges? Women almost seem to be genetically predisposed to hate them, why?

I was barely alive in 1983 so basically if he had humor back then good for him however it seems that it expired a while back…

ha?

Who said I hated them? Did you see the word hate in my post? “I am not going to see anything with him and the Three Stooges” is not an indictment on the Three Stooges it is an indictment of Penn being in the Three Stooges. Perhaps I could have phrase that better, but I didn’t add anything seemingly remote to hating the Three Stooges. I like the Three Stooges actually I don’t love them to death or beyond anything else in the world nor idolize them but they were really funny… I actually enjoy Laurel and Hardy better but I like the 3 Stooges over the Marx Brothers. Well Abbott and Costello were good too, but I would prefer the Stooges over them as well… Yeah that is right I know about classic comedy teams.

Generalizations and misplaced assumptions rear they ugly faces again.

KQ, A few things…
1.”Bad Boys” pops up on TBS every so often, So it can be seen.
2. It’s not a comedy, Penn goes to prison to get after a guy who raped his sister, it’s brutal, but it’s also a good film.
3. I must admit to generalizing this time, & it’s because I have never met a woman who likes the Stooges, nor do I know anyone who knows a woman who likes them. You say you like them, & that is rare, I just don’t know any who find them amusing, you are the first. So I’m sorry for assumming. But as a rule, women are not down with Moe, Larry, & Curley/Shemp/Joe.
Laurwl & Hardy were excelent, the Marx Brothers were pretty good, I liked Our Gang, but I never cared for Abbott & Costello. But that’s just me.

1. Never seen it and unless I actually take the time to search it or rent it I probably won’t any time soon, but if I do happen to come across it I will check it out. Thanks for the tip.

2. I thought it was a comedy since we were talking about him being a comedy/having lost sense of humor unless the 3 Stooges Movie is going to be a drama…? It may be a biopic. Oh man… that is going to suck. Well I guess the Chaplin movie was good (Robert Downey Jr.) if they do it like that I suppose, I don’t know with Penn in the movie I am just not feeling it.

3. Well I am glad I was your first and in this instance I hope not the only one. LOL Amusing is the least that a person can feel toward the Stooges I mean I don’t understand why a person male or female wouldn’t find them AT LEAST amusing. Guys hitting each other is amusing at the very least. With that said, Abbott & Costello I like because I have to think my way through their routine, but I prefer The Stooges over them because obviously not a lot of brain matter is necessary and when it comes to wanting to be entertained sometimes you don’t want to think your way through what is happening. As far as Our Gang heard of it but was never interested, I heard it was racist or racist inclined, but it could be that it was a misinterpretation or something, but I admit I haven’t given it a chance.

Have you ever seen “El Chavo del Ocho” o “Chespirito”? It is a Mexican show (comedy) and it mixes a lot of that old school stuff (in fact there is a laurel and hardy type skit in some of the Chespirito shows). Matt Groenig (sp?) creator of The Simpsons, took the character of the Bumble Bee man from “El Chapulin Colorado” another show and skit part of the Chespirito series. In any case I enjoy that too. I think there could be episodes that are dubbed in English but I imagine the humor would be different.

I know about “Chespirito”, I seen it while channel surfing, but I speak almost no Spanish. I know a word or 2 here & there, & I’m not sure if any were over dubbed in English. I should get off my a$$ & learn Spanish, it would be useful at times.

WTH? I cannot put leave a reply for some reason this is my third attempt…

I have no idea what happened I write my business hit submit and it does nothing. Oh well I just was saying that I love El Chavo del Ocho always on in some part of the world. Classic stuff. First few seasons best with all original cast. Don’t know if there are DVDS and if there are would there be english subs or dubs but the translation may not be good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW_sAlZQ5iQ Maybe because I put url brackets in between that it didnt work so I am not doing it this time :-)

ps yes that was the reason it does link itself. okay good to know for the next time.
