Soda wars spread to California, point to future of US politics. Richmond, Ca is about to become the first city in the country to tax businesses for selling sugary drinks. The ballot initiative is driving a wedge between white fascists progressives, who claim to be combatting obesity, and black and hispanic groups, who want economic growth and jobs. “We’re tired of this Progressive Alliance coming in and telling us what to do. I’ve renamed them Plantation Alliance.” Now you’re getting it.

I guess Hawaii was the first state…. Gov Ambercrombie&Fitch raised that tax 100% from where it was and 50% on alcohol almost as soon as he got into office.

‘ now we’re taking on Big Soda as well, because we know that corporate entities are buying elections and unduly influencing cities and our nation,” Mayor Gayle McLaughlin said in an interview in her City Hall office. “We’re trying to show the Richmond community that we don’t have to sit back and let them take control of our lives. We can stand up to them.” ‘
Doesn’t even make sense, does it?

“Doesn’t even make sense, does it?”
No, it doesn’t make sense, in fact, it’s idiotic. All these socialists do is put the word “Big” in front of a business name to demonize it: “Big Oil”, “Big Tobacco”, and now “Big Soda”. Yeah, evil “Big Soda” corrupting your children, making you obese and influencing elections. Still, one “Big” these progressive scumbags are never bothered by is “Big Government”.

Actually, I am nopt sure that is true. Biden is an idiot and would be led around by the nose and be allowed to make decisions that he can’t come near now. Impeach him and you have guaranteed that every stupid plan he has will fly through congress like shit through a goose!

OR,
sometimes parents tire of hearing the kids bellyaching for more candy than is good for them an so they allow the children to eat as much as they want, thus giving the children a practical understanding of WHY it’s not a good idea, instead of just mom and dad being mean and cruel.

Don’t try to make too much, especially sense, out of this PD; after all, it’s Kalifornication.

Take a look at Richmond, It is another in the long list of shithole cities in Kalifornia. It looks like it has been bombed out downtown. They have a mall thats across the freeway from the city (to keep it seperate) Thier crime rate is high and the number of liquor stores outnumber schools by about 25 to one. And they are worried about soda’s? Kalifornia, run by liberals. The liberals are required to safely tuck their head up their ass before running for office.

Point well taken on the Chinese..
But I’m also thinking of GOP politics. Without grabbing more Hispanics, it’s going to be an angry minority party for a generation. Think of what happened to the GOP in California after 1994..
Or lend Steve Schmidt & Michael Steele an ear once in a while. I have no desire to see Dems dominating for decades either. Time to triangulate

Hispanics are a fact of life, and not all of them are Democrats. wjhatever the Dems would like you to believe. Today, right now, the GOP needs to be beating the bushes for some up and coming possibilities as candidates in 2015. That was part of the proble this time and last for that matter. They drug out some old chestnuts that have the country had never heard of and by the time Roney was the presumed nominee, everyone had heard all kinds of dirt that the Dems used against him. A majoity of the pollees preferred Roney;s economic plan. But they didn’t LIKE him. We need a likeable, competent, charismatic person to run and the election will be ours for the taking.

King Cobra and Old English 800–they’ll still be able to get their first 40′s of the day, just not 40′s of soda. I had to take classes at UC Berkely Extension, and spent a couple days in Richmond for said classes, and you’re right, Notso. Richmond is a shithole. Wouldn’t want to be there at night.

What the polititians don’t graps is that a company will produce whatever the market desires. Taxing sodas because they are unhelathy will only piss off consumers, not decrease their consumption. OHHHHHHHH! NOW I get it! A new source of revenue! Hah! I see what they did there!

Yep, and I’m sure it will generate enough revenue to cure any deficit spending they might have been doing.
