State health inspectors destroy 1,600 lbs of hunted deer meat donated to homeless. Yes, we know, it’s safer to have them go dumpster dive for a meal. Another logic fail from government. Want to bet some Petatard called in the complaint?

They aren’t against it, but it has to come from them.

I read about this on my Tea Party page and it wasn’t just the fact that they threw away 1,600 pounds of perfectly good venison, they also doused it with several gallons of chlorine bleach so that it couldn’t be used by anyone after they had disposed of the meat. No concern for the poor here. No concern for the conservation of food resources. Just pure hateful political chutzpha and bureaucratic overreach!

A very good friend of mine who is a judge, has a group of hunting buddies in our area who get together and donate their kills every year. The group pays to process the meat and then gives the butchered, packaged and frozen meat to the Rescue Mission. I think that there would be absolute fury if the authorities tried something like that here. I hope.

The whole problem with authorities (excluding most cops) is they think they’re authorities on everything. Most of them are clueless.

What a waste of good meat. Venison is great and lean and healthy..Someone needs to “field Dress” the asshnat that decided to do this. When I was a kid we didn’t have a whole lot, and a big lesson was you never wasted anything. We hunted, processed/cleaned whatever we shot and enjoyed it year round, ducks, geese, turkey, deer, pheasants, quail, fish…I don’t ever remember being hungry. I just can not understand the stupidity of people anymore.

Why use something for free when you can overcharge the taxpayer for something and make a profit.

“While we applaud the good intentions of the hunters who donated this meat, we must protect the people who eat at Rescue Mission, and we cannot allow a potentially serious health threat to endanger the public,”

It’s much better to let them to starve than eat food the gooberment didn’t provide, and Moochelle didn’t approve of.

We must demonstrate to these people who it is that they are really dependent on.

What is this, Stupid Bureaucrat Day? Here in Michigan the law is apparently different because we have deer ranches that raise venison for commercial sale, and I was a big fan of the venison chili at the restaurant down the street… until they switched to making buffalo chili instead. Buffalo meat is apparently cheaper and has many of the same benefits. There’s nothing at all unsafe about venison – the Louisiana bureaucrats are lying. One thing interesting about a deer ranch: the fences are really really high. Your typical cattle fence won’t make a deer even break stride. I think they have to be ten feet high to stop a deer.
