godfather-kennedy The History Channel has announced that it is planning a new series based on America’s greatest crime family – the Kennedys.

Hey, don’t blame us if you don’t like the comparison. Blame the History Channel. Here’s how The Associated Press reports it:

The cable network says the eight-hour series is called “The Kennedys” and will be told in a multigenerational manner akin to “The Godfather.” The network says the series will depict a manipulative, egocentric father living out his ambitions through his sons.

The personal drama of the clan will be included in the saga as well as the era’s major events. Some of those include the Bay of Pigs, the Cuban missile crisis and the civil rights struggle.

Who do they think they’re kidding? Nobody wants to watch a dramatized version of the Bay of Pigs. They want to see JFK boinking Marilyn Monroe. They want to see Teddy Kennedy and Chris Dodd making a waitress sandwich. They want the sexual escapades, the drunks and the criminals of the Kennedy clan.

Call it Godfather IV, the Teddy Kennedy Story. Or what would have happened if Fredo had become the Godfather?

this series is being tweaked as we speak, to take out any anti-Kennedy slant that may have crept in with a conservative producer, Joel Surnow….who is now being replaced with a Liberal one,Stephen Kronish. Surnow remains on the project as one of its executive producers.

I can’t stand any of the Kennedys. They may be your American family, but
not mine. I get sick at the sight of the left wing media slobbering and
fauning over that pile of trash with money.

Ugh! I do not like the Kennedy’s, not a one. “The Vaunted Kennedy’s”, blah blah blah! I hope I live long enough to see the end of their choke hold on American politics and this election in MA is a good start!
That being said, I hope TK rests in peace, but I’m thinking that he’ll be in purgatory for a while. Either that or he’s destined to roast on The Eternal Spit!
I will never believe that Rose Kennedy was OK with her son’s stance on abortion and she probably prayed for his soul every day. The biggest thing that sticks in my craw is the Kennedy’s, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi et al…they are all for killing babies and embracing The Culture of Death while professing to be devout Catholics and taking Communion. The hypocrisy is NAUSEATING! The the photo op with Nancy on her trip to Rome to see the Holy Father…why didn’t he just save us from her and excommunicate (or exorcise…take your pick) her while simultaneously sprinkling Holy Water on her?

Come on, I think Ted Kennedy has been clean & sober for exactly 22 weeks as of today since he passed on Aug 25, 2009. I think congratulations are in order.

Harsh… yet quite funny.

I am not happy he is dead, however I got to say that I still dont understand why he was Senator when I lived in MA it seemed that people knew he was corrupt and useless but because he was a Kennedy and his brothers were murdered, etc allowed him to remain in power for pretty much most of his life.

There was a large part of America that has been obsessed with Camelot & all things Kennedy. Much of the goodwill to Teddy comes form the fact that we did see his brothers John & Bobby murdered in public. Despite the fact he left a pregnant woman to die in his car, he was loved for some reason in MA & in other liberal circles. If he had done that in 1999 rather then 1969, he would not have survived to stay in office, & would probably gone to jail. Different time, different standards in the eyes of many. I think he was a dirtbag, & I stand by that statement. Was my joke harsh, yep, & it’s the truth.

The idea of royalty always seems to gather a lot of fans. JKO was very good in that legend and the media helped her and them (Family) keep it going.

It is true that he would have probably gotten more heck for what he did (even imprisonment) in the now than then had not the tragedy of his brothers been still so new at that point in time which I think is the real reason why nothing happened to him and he milked it to the last day. (I think it is true that most of these people even remotely associated with this family are milking it, which is disgusting)

Now with that said seeing the climate of some animals being more equal than others I will have to digress that perhaps if he had gotten some recrimination perhaps not as much had he had been a Republican and/or more conservative leaning democrat. I guess we will never know.

I believe in real Justice that this world cannot dispense. If he truly asked and sought forgiveness from his Maker just as I do myself, then very good for him. I cannot begrudge someone seeking salvation. It is the best thing in my humble opinion that one can do for oneself. No one is perfect and so on. If he sought G-d’s forgiveness, G-d forgave him and that makes me feel really good inside for so many reasons. Since I personally don’t know what happened in this man’s mind at any point in regard to his actions in the past, all I can say is I hope he did the right thing in the end.

However if he didn’t seek forgiveness and he had no remorse for his actions, as I said, I believe in real Justice that this world cannot dispense… and it will be dispensed.

One thing though is that he never seemed to publicly admit what he did that night and well understandably even with the possibility of him and G-d working things out, it does seem cowardly and scumbaggy that he never came out and admitted his guilt.

What really happened that night at Chappaquiddick, we’ll never know.

I think that he had to stick by his story as told to the press back then and any thought of “coming clean” never entered his mind. As a Catholic, I think he confessed to a Priest to absolve his guilt and ask for forgiveness but we all know that confession would never become public, so he felt safe, ESPECIALLY in Irish Catholic Kennedy Owned Boston!

However, what amazed me is that with what guilt he may have had, he chose to live an out of control life for 20 years after that. I would have thought he would have chosen a more sedate and reflective path…public service yes, but waitress sandwiches?

It was only after his nephew William Smith’s rape trial in 1991 did he mellow in the Party Department. Better late than never, but I do feel sorry for all that Joan was put through.

I think it is safe to say that the most glaring and obvious things that we can extract from the physical evidence as well as reports of his behavior before and after can lead us to conclude what most people conclude.

However, as you said, all the details will remain in mystery and he had nothing to lose at his last moments since he was not able to do his senatorial duties to just retire and say the truth or at the very least leave a letter certifying what happened so there is no doubt in anyone’s mind as to what happened.

If nothing bad happened and he wasn’t at fault AT LEAST attempt to once again set the record straight or if he was at fault to bring peace to that woman’s family and his own perhaps. I think considering the adoration people have for the Kennedy a death bed confession would have garnered more sympathy than not. Especially in the MSM.

Confessing to a priest is probably the closest thing that he would have done to expiate his guilt if he felt that he had to which is something that we will never know if he felt that he had to either. I say that because he seemed to have been a coward and probably couldn’t deal with losing respect and power that others made it possible for him to have.

I find it amazing that the milking of the Kennedy name and tragedies protecting him all this time from real shame and punishment. He never truly was abased nor truly paid for anything he did and not just Chappaquiddick, his dalliances, etc but also his corruption in government. However like I said above if he and G-d came to an understanding about his salvation then good for him. I cannot be mad, because I want G-d to forgive me as well.
