Todd Palin reacted with great restraint when David Letterman joked about the statutory rape of his 14-year old daughter.
“Any ‘jokes’ about raping my 14-year-old are despicable,” Palin said. “Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too.”
Personally, we’d like to see Todd hop on an airplane, fly to New York and kick Letterman’s ass from one end of Times Square to the other.
At the very least, he should respond like Democrat icon Harry Truman did when his daughter Margaret was insulted.
Washington Post critic Paul Hume wrote a scathing review of Margaret Truman’s singing. Truman leaped to the defense of his daughter by writing this letter to Hume (but only after being convinced he shouldn’t go down to the Post and kick Hume’s ass):
Mr. Hume: I’ve just read your lousy review of Margaret’s concert. I’ve come to the conclusion that you are an “eight ulcer man on four ulcer pay.”
It seems to me that you are a frustrated old man who wishes he could have been successful. When you write such poppy-cock as was in the back section of the paper you work for it shows conclusively that you’re off the beam and at least four of your ulcers are at work.
Some day I hope to meet you. When that happens you’ll need to a new nose, a lot of beefsteak for black eyes, and perhaps a supporter below![Westbrook] Pegler, a gutter snipe, is a gentleman alongside you. I hope you’ll accept that statement as a worse insult than a reflection on your ancestry.

Off course David was referring to Palin’s 14 year-old daughter. The 18 year old (Bristol) was not even at the game and could, therefore, not possibly have been raped by A-Rod, as Letterman claimed. The 14 year-old (Willow),
however, was in attendnce, which renders his excuse as very lame.

David Letterman’s utterly sleazy attempt to pretend that the joke he told about Sarah Palin’s daughter at the baseball game WASN’T about the daughter who was at the baseball game was worthy of the sleaziest politicians he’s ever tried to mock.

1.Black holes go somewhere! Check the science. Science isn’t certain where but they have suggested ‘white holes” exist – the energy is never destroyed only transported, flowing through the rip in time/space continuum that a black hole really is.. In fact, a really terrible movie was made about that very subject back in the 1970s.
2. I am very concerned about this civilization but my suggestion is hit the reset button. Liberalism is a pernicious philosophy that needs to be humbled & I think the Muslims are just the ones to do it! This is 476 AD and the barbarians are at the gates and there are not enough real men behind the gates to fight them off any longer – or, even to care. Liberal men ? OH, Jeanne – try this on for size : I have a theory that the reason liberal men hate conservative women so very much – even threatening rape(as in that Playboy article, etc!) is because we threaten their masculinity/egos/intellects by daring to be individuals – thinking on our own. They see liberal women as cute, little obedient females and we, well, you know what they have been calling us and women like us! We threaten them, hence, the violent language.

Dear Monitor: I would like to complain about Gary’s last post to me. It was insulting sexually – implying I was a woman of easy virtue, ie, a whore, a slut, in modern terms.. I am a married woman – married to the same beloved man 33 years. I am nearly 58 years old. My virtue is without question. I will no longer speak to this man but I would appreciate if you explained to him that calling a virtuous matron “easy” is still considered beyond acceptable norms in some cultures. In Italian culture, for instance, it is not permitted. There are still things that should not be said to women.
This post is a lady-like and generous explanation that he needs to understand that not all women are whores, some women still have honor and deserve respect and THAT it is the simple, unvarnished truth. To insult my sexual honor is going to far.
Also, sir or madam monitor, I would add that such name-calling is the last refuge of a man who lost a debate and is desperate to say something and he resorts to insults that better belong in a tavern!
Just before reading this comment, I had read Gary’s last inane comment and thought that it was about time to end the fun and games we’ve been having, laughing at him. Then, I saw your comment. I have really enjoyed how you have shown him what a mental midget he is, all without him even being aware of it. It’s just been too entertaining.
But while we enjoy having all points of view here, we draw the line when someone becomes as insulting as Gary has been. Actually, he went over the line many posts back, but we thought you might be having fun with him.

jeanne thank you for seeing the word was wrong. I would have thought that you or anyone on sight would have found out what rape really is but it seems that everyone so far here does not know. Letterman was not talking about rape and to say is so far off base that I can see why supporters of palin are on this sight. If you only looked up the word you would see that it is the the act of having sexual intercourse usually FORCIBLY,by means of fear, force by a violent act, or drug. That would inclued anything that would make the woman or man think that if they did not do as they were told they would be killed or harmed in some way. No one ever said (or would have thought ) that he said anything about anyone forceing a young girl into sex or any person into sex. You and others have taken the stand to make people think that he did which is wrong. You have never dealt with rape victims, I have and you have no idea what they goes on, I do. You have never seen a murder victim I have, you have never seen anything about what you are talking about but I could be wrong and I hope I am and that you have never been a victim.
