Twitter has been down since 6 am PST. Info: http://status.twitter.com/
Why is it down?
“We are defending against a denial-of-service attack, and will update status again shortly.”
I am so used to getting your great @ihatethemedia tweets all day. I am having withdrawal!

(That’s the kind of stuff I saw on Twitter when I last visited it 3 months ago. I haven’t been back

You’re absolutely right, and wrong. Twitter has turned out to be a complete waste of time for people not interested in specific subjects. But I can tell you that for discovering news, specific types of news such as news conservatives are interested in, it’s invaluable. I will see important news items faster than most who just check news sites or feed readers.
If you look at our Twitter page (http://twitter.com/ihatethemedia) so you see a mixture tweets about our own posts, “retweets” of other posts of interest, and sure, a bit of banter, but not much.
You choose who you follow, so pick sources that post interesting tweets about what you are interested in. We follow about 190 Twitter users right now (2,000 follow us) — just about everyone is interesting to follow. We don’t like to follow those who just yack, even if on subject, we follow those that provide links to articles in the same area of interest as we have. For example, see follow a few politicians, some bloggers, some news reporters, some pundits, and others who have an eye for great articles to share.
And of course, Twitter has proven itself critically invaluable in saving lives during natural disasters such as the San Diego fires and the Iran election uprising.
No, Twitter, used properly, is an extremely important tool for those who wish to not miss anything in their area of interest.
