Unemployment rate drops to 7.7%… …due to a “drop in the labor force participation rate which declined by 0.2% to 63.6% once again, as the number of people out of the labor increased by over 540K to 88,883,000.” Oh, and most of the 146k jobs added were the type of jobs the left-media denigrated as “hamburger flipping” jobs back when a non-Democrat was president.

A Soviet-era joke which may be apropo: Stalin, Khrushchev and Brezhnev were riding on a train when the train suddenly stops. An apparatchik asks Stalin what to do and he says “Send the entire train crew to Siberia and bring on a new one.” After that is done, the train starts moving but shortly thereafter, suddenly stops again. This time, the apparatchik asks Khrushchev what to do; he tells them to exonerate the original train crew and give them their jobs back. Once that is accomplished, the train begins to move but stops once again after travelling a few miles more. Finally, the apparatchik asks Brezhnev what to do. He replies, “Close all the window shades and pretend we’re moving.”

7.7%?
BULLSHIT!!!
146k jobs added, over 400,000 new unemployment claims EACH WEEK, for the last 3-4 weeks, and the unemploymsnt rate drops?
Oh, wait. There are over 500,000 fewer people looking for jobs, and you are considered employed when you work 1 hour a week!
The Obama economy is thriving, isn’t it?

And the number fudging continues. Just wait until the “adjustment” when they realize this 146K number was a crock of shit.

Compare the coverage:
Feb 05, 2005 : WASHINGTON (AP) — America’s payrolls grew by 146,000 in January, a sluggish pace suggesting companies are reluctant to bulk up their work forces and highlighting the challenges faced by jobseekers. The unemployment rate fell as people left the job market.
The mention of people leaving the work force was in the opening paragraph.
Dec 07, 2012 : (CBS Money Watch) The U.S. economy added 146,000 new jobs in November and the employment rate slid to 7.7 percent from last month’s reading of 7.9 percent. The results were far better than expected.
Now in this story you scroll down 6 paragraphs to see: Maybe some folks would have taken a break from looking for a job, regardless of weather, but the labor force drop of 350,000 meant the participation rate edged 0.2 percent lower to 63.6 percent.

What pissed me off is that AP whines that 146,000 jobs created under Bush is a “sluggish pace” while the same number created under Obama is “far better than expected”.
I hate the media.

It IS a sluggish pace, but still far better than I would expect under Obama’s policies. Maybe that’s what they meant.

The suicide rate is up. More people kill themselves more jobs open up and less people are unemployed.

My unemployment rate is still 100%. I have technically not given up looking for work, but at 62 it’s just not going to happen, so with all the unsupervised time I have I’m starting to apply for all the free stuff I can find.

And once again, I suppose this is U3 and not U6. We are not going to win this thing until we can get control of the narrative. It’s obvious we can no longer shame the media into telling the truth. I’m sure they are going to continue to lie their butts off to cover all the lies they told to get Dear Leader reelected.

Of course it is U3. The labor participation rate dropped by two-tenths. About 350,000 people. That is what drove down the unemployment rate.

U3, U6, it won’t matter when you don’t have a job. When the MSM & Obama (same thing) keep telling you it’s getting better, & you & others you know are unemployed, you start questioning everything. Unless you find out you like the welfare lifestyle, you better hope it’s not too late when you figure it out.
