I was waiting to see what the numbers looked like. Not much of a shopper myself so I can’t gauge things personally. Notice how the writer makes excuses for the poor retail season. And that’s Fox News. When a Republican is president, bad news is simply bad news. When a Democrat is president, there’s always a list of reasons and excuses for the bad news that make it clear it wasn’t the president’s fault. Hurricane Sandy, the Newton school shooting, bad weather – no, it can’t possibly be the way the president has ruined the economy.

Crowley got run over by a reindeer,

Those lying teabaggers! We are in a recovery. It’s a winter of recovery. Fox is no doubt under orders from Limbaugh & co. to talk down the economy to make Obama look bad to give the republicans leverage in the budget negotiations. DAMN! We need to counter this right away.
Schedule a few speeches by Obama in Chicago, San Francisco and another dem-friendly, minority-rich venue like Philly. Tell SEIU how many minority attendees we will need and what type of protest signs they will need. Make sure the media cover the speeches well and report that retail sales in minority areas are really strong. Have one of them say the bad report only measures sales in white areas so we can get a racism angle going. Make sure the other networks get the racism talking points. Get Jesse or Al to appear on one of the shows and make the same argument. Have PBS do a segment on how well X-mas sales are this year…
OK, it’s not really from a recording. But they are pretty predictable in how they go about papering over bad news.
