West Point chapel hosts first lesbian wedding

West Point chapel hosted its first lesbian wedding today. Lesbian activist Brenda Sue Fulton married her partner even though they had to bring in a clergyman from elsewhere to perform the ceremony. Brenda graduated from the academy in 1980, the first class that included women, and shortly afterward founded an organization called KnightsOut, which describes itself as “an organization of West Point Alumni, Staff and Faculty who are united in supporting the rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender soldiers to openly serve their country.” So there was no political agenda involved in this, just a love match.
