“What happened that my SS withholdings in my paycheck just went up?” A Democratic Underground.com post: “My paycheck just went down by an amount that I don’t feel comfortable with. I guarantee this decrease will hurt me more than the increase in income taxes will hurt those making over $400,000.” The lord Obama giveth and the lord Obama taketh away: “Workers making $30,000 will take a bigger hit on their pay than those earning $500,000 under new fiscal deal.” Elections have consequences, but you don’t find out until January.

Stupidity cannot be cured with money, or through education, or by legislation. Stupidity is not a sin, the victim can’t help being stupid. But stupidity is the only universal capital crime: the sentence is death, there is no appeal, and execution is carried out automatically and without pity.

Exactly. It doesn’t understand that this has nothing to do with corporate greed, but everything to do with people like it whom did not pay into SS and other entitlements but are getting it at the expense of everyone else. Abusing it even though they should not have it. Others like me paying into things and I will never get to see it when I am TRULY “entitled” to it. It pisses me off.

Crowley, Kimmy is talking about all entitlements. While she is not funding your SS, she is funding your government goodies as I am. That is what pisses us off. Presumably, you are an able-bodied adult. Why are you being subsidized?

As I stated above: “Exactly. It only reads what it wants to. I am indeed speaking of all entitlements, however SS is still a ponzi scheme it all part of a greater point that seems to escape certain people.

That sucks for all those on SS who depend on it, but you reap what you sow. It’s not my fault your generation was stupid enough to depend on the government for your most basic needs. I pay SS and I’ll never see a dime of it, so should I feel bad? Should I feel bad that your generation was corrupt enough to spend on the backs of my generation and the generations that come after mine? Should I feel bad that your generation continues to vote for corrupt politicians, let them “serve” in public office the majority of their lives, because you’re to stupid to see the trouble you’re causing?

Sorry, I don’t feel bad.

Obama never should have reduced the payroll tax to begin with. SS ran a $48 billion deficit in 2012. That would have been mitigated had he not chopped 2% off the top. He rightfully concluded that most people do not understand their own paychecks. He pleased them two years ago and then when the “bill” came due the people bitched. Who could have seen this coming?

just wait till 2014 when the obobo signature bill goes full tilt boogie. I suspect that 2014 may very well set every wage earner on fire, and there is still 2 years to go with him, and even if the house stays the same and the senate changes in 2014 it won’t matter till he is gone, cause he’ll never repeal his hope and change. Unfortunately I don’t think it will ever go away no matter who is in Cashington. Happy new year!!!

The Democrat Underground tried to blame Bush for their taxes going up after their lord and savior said only the evil rich would pay more.

Then realized Warren Buffets secretary still paid more % wise in taxes than Warren and started calling everyone stupid dummy head’s…

When that didn’t work they pointed off in the distance and said “What’s that?” then deleted the first comment and locked the thread in the true spirit of debate!

Anyone else hear the H&R Block commercial about how they can help with Obamacare? They have a scary “Affordable Care Act Tax” thing on their website that is going to freak the DU’ers who fell for the Obama scam when it kicks in.

KimmyQueen January 4, 2013 at 5:41 pm

I don’t even understand this thing about percentages. If I earn a million dollars and someone else earns 50,000 and lets say we both earn a flat federal and state tax (just one tax) of 10% aren’t I paying MORE than the person that makes less than me? Of course! No matter how much anyone makes if they make more than another person the person that makes more is paying more in dollar and cents in taxes. It is utterly ridiculous to squabble over “percentages”.

sa_rose January 5, 2013 at 1:17 pm

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

And whatever the rate the ercentages) if you have 50 eleven dozen places to “hide” that income (via mortgage interest, depreciation cost, advertising, charitible gifts, etc) you won’t PAY more than the guy with the lower paycheck. Screw the rates. Fix the income tax system and close the loopholes that allow the wealthy to keep their wealth, while the middle class gets reamed to pay for ALL the programs for the poor.

KimmyQueen January 5, 2013 at 4:05 pm

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Percentage wise perhaps… but in actual amount yes… one hundred thousand dollars is much more than 5 thousand dollars. If government finds all assets and cash of a wealthy person and taxes that they are paying even more whereas a person that doesn’t have cash to stash continues to pay less in comparison. Then they are those that do not pay federal tax at all, but get federal tax entitlements. From the viewpoint of a wealthy person that worked hard to have what they have, i am sure they don’t see that as fair and just. The only fair and just system will be one tax for everyone from the richest to the poorest. If a poor person pays 1.00 then that is what he pays at least when he or she gets entitlement benefits there is SOMETHING that he or she apported to society. If govt wants to have a federal and a state tax or just do tax on products bought and sold (since the funds are in transit and the money doesn’t actual belong to anyone while in transit so there is no unconstitutionality* in place) then do that.

* People have stated that it is unconstitutional to tax money that you earn, I agree. Earning money is part of the pursuit of happiness which is a protected right by the Constitution. It is up to you (and life’s circumstances out of your control) how much you earn in life. Overall, if you buy something or you sell something that property and that money is not yours during the transit from hand to hand or account to account so THAT can be taxed somehow but not punitively. It is a complication issue perhaps but it doesnt need to be.

If we stopped subsidizing poverty, there would be less of it.

Sidekick January 5, 2013 at 5:01 pm

So simple but since poverty is a huge industry, it isn’t going anywhere. In fact it will have to continue to increase in order to sustain the industry.

KimmyQueen January 5, 2013 at 5:35 pm

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

So in my opinion allow for everyone regardless to give something to the entitlement pot that should be well managed and budgeted where EVERYONE buys and sells something a tax on things that are sold and bought in my opinion is the best solution. All in all the rich will pay for the most expensive things so they will still pay more than those who aren’t rich. If a person perhaps a child that obviously cannot work and has no parents, or a person that is so sick that working is impossible for him or her to work and they couldn’t give anything to society they can get benefits FROM those taxes (sales and such) and those benefits will go back to the economy through sales and purchasing taxes. However if govt is going to have fed taxes then everyone should pay something. Not paying anything AND getting benefits when the person is of age and is able to work is criminal in my opinion.

As SK said poverty will always be a part of any society no matter how rich and productive it is. There will be those who aren’t capable to take care of themselves always and there will always be those that do not want to work and want it (whatever it is) for free. The government makes it too easy for the latter. That is the main problem we are having. I agree with SK it is an industry to keep those people poor and to feed into their envy and greed and entitlement ideas because their vote is easy to come by that way.

When people overcomplicate things in my opinion is because they dont want to fix the real problems.

sa_rose January 5, 2013 at 7:44 pm

I don’t think I am being clear. If my tax rate if 50% and my income is 100.000 annually and we’ll say for convenience sake that you make 30,000 and your rate is 10%. So theoretically you pay 3.000 and I pay 50.000. Right? But if in various deductions and loopholes I can get my TAXABLE income down to say 10.000. Then I only pay 2500 and I am paying more actual money than you are, regardless of the rate. THAT’S what I mean. Rate is irrelevant unless the loopholes are closed.

KimmyQueen January 6, 2013 at 7:37 am

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

We are not in disagreement with that, but the reason why people take advantage of loopholes is because of what I stated above. No normal person wants to pay enormous amounts of taxes especially those who create the tax code to begin with. If we had a true and fair tax system where everyone pays SOMETHING but not in a punitive and crazy way we wouldn’t have the problems we have today.
