Maybe some will disagree with me, but I’m glad the judge doesn’t have the power to force this man’s sterilization, though he voluntarily agreed to it. I just picture our country on the slippery slope to China if judges obtain this ability. Can you imagine what an Al Gore/environmental/overpopulation judge would do with such power?

Sadly, you are right.
But this is a good place to put my idea for reducing births/abortions. I think we should offer women a lump cash payout of say $5000 to have birth control implants placed. She could remove them at any time, but would have to pay the $5,000 back. And then maybe give her $2000 a year for every year she kept it in. In 5 years when it needs to be replaced, she gets another lump sum payment for re-doing it.
This makes it strictly voluntary, and when/if she is ready to become a mother, she will be able to make that choice. And, if she has to pay the money back, fine – kids are expensive, she may as well learn that before she has any.
The only problem with my idea is that the government would be involved, so it would be rife with fraud and abuse.

Taking on the responsibility of raising a child is a huge step, and people take it too lightly. I blame that on the fact that they know the child will be fed, clothed, housed, and “educated” by the government if they don’t do it themselves.
For me, it was an easy decision. Lie on the table and let them cut on your privates for a while, be in pain for a few days, then never have to worry about it again for the rest of my life. Best decision I ever made.

That’s ok, Robert. I don’t expect others to feel the way I do. I just did what was the most responsible thing in my mind. I’ve been told, and I agree, that I would have made a great father. I just don’t want to.
It’s not even that I don’t like kids. I do. I very much enjoy my job, playing with them and my rocking horses. I just don’t want the responsibility of having any of my own. I wish others that don’t want that kind of responsibility would do as I did, and not reproduce. I see far too many kids without responsible parents.
