Mississippi town figures out simple, effective way to stop Westboro Baptist Church funeral protest

Brandon, Mississippi will go down in history as the town where the Westboro Baptist Church met its match.

The lunatics showed up to protest at the funeral of local hero Staff Sgt Jason Rogers who was killed in Afghanistan, but left town without making a peep. They may have made a few moans and groans, but no peeps.

westboro-demonstrator

Westboro Baptist is really more of an asylum than a church

The Hayride has the righteous report:

A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.

No lawyers. No judges. No counter protests. Just a good old fashioned ass kicking.

That’s exactly what the Westboro lunatics have been asking for, so it’s only fair that the good folks in Rankin County gave it to them.

Next time, put it on pay per view and make a fortune for the widows and children of the military heroes. We know we’d pay to see it.

Update: We thought we should include the video that accompanied the original story. It’s the view from a trooper’s dash cam recording the escort of Marine Staff Sgt Jason Rogers as hundreds or even thousands of onlookers gathered alongside the roadway to pay their respects.

It is simple: They may have their rights of expression, and non-crazy citizens have the right to kick some ass (in a righteous manner) and close ranks around the righteous ass kickers.

Can’t say I approve of the ass-kicking — deserved, IMO, but still — but the remainder of the reactions by the community get an A-plus. Cars blocked in parking lots? Shady strangers brought in for police questioning? Well played. No property damage, no physical harm, no laws violated, but a clear message sent, without a lawyer or a press release in sight.

I tend to prefer non-violence, but some people DESERVE to get their ass kicked it is the ONLY way they will learn.

Exactly…just like little kids…for some a time out works but others don’t learn till they get the paddle.

A couple of more beat downs and the Westboro Baptist Church may find itself out of business. I, for one, look forward to that day and I salute the citizens of Rankin County for their initiative.

BTW, Westboro Baptist Church is not a church and its members are not Baptists, rather it’s a hate filled cult that is anti-Christian and anti-American.

Talk about a feel-good story. I laughed all the way through. The reason it’s so popular is because it reminds us of how the world used to be before everybody got so legalistic and twisted. I remember when I was a little boy an eighth-grade teacher, in a moment of frustration, hit my older sister with a stapler and my father drove over to the school the next day and knocked the man on his ass. No talking, no arguing, he just walked in and decked him. Then Dad told the man if he touched her again, the second visit wouldn’t be so nice. That was the end of that. No lawyers, no arrests, my father pretty much forgot about it, and the teacher went on with his career after learning a lesson… although I did notice when I got the man 10 years later as a high school biology teacher he recognized my name and treated me with remarkable politeness.

Good for your Dad! That teacher had NO business doing that. That is what parents NEED to do. Perhaps not NECESSARILY hit the teachers, but definelty stand up for their kids and not let teachers get away with crap.

whiskeyriver
Guest

That works both ways KQ. I see a lot of kids, every day, that could use a good whack on the butt to get their attention. Rude, obnoxious, no respect for anyone, all because their parents allow them to be that way. What is the teacher supposed to do? Call the parent that does not give a shit anyway? Put up with the brat because the school administration says they have to? Or, kick the parent in the ass to get their attention? If I were in that position I would start with the parent.

If I got in trouble back in the day before Hector was a pup, what the teacher did to me was the least of my worries. Of course, back then, school wasn’t such a hotbed of liberal indoctrination (they tried, though).

First of all, let me say: “Way to go Brandon, Mississippi!” Now, for the edification of some of the less enlightened (ie., WhatTheF***, et al.) Let’s go over the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America, shall we? Let’s see, if I’m not mistaken this particular Amendment was ratified with nine others on the 15th or December, 1791 and this First of the first ten amendments states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, ot the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government far a redress of girevances.” For a moment, let’s take, “or abridging the freedom of speech,” out of the above amendment text and take a closer look at it in context to it’s original intent and how it’s being used and abused today, and how the Westboro Baptist Church is being allowed to abuse and abridge this amendment so that the Left can set up their counter arguments to it’s very existance.

At the time of the ratification of the Constitution, the Founders knew perfectly well that polite speech needed no protection, as we do today, the speech that needed protection was ‘political speech.’ Political speech today can still draw the ire of the powers that be, so it is in the interest of the individual speaking, to proceed with caution. We see today, a legal system that has been turned from it’s original purposes to serve the ‘People’ of this great nation, into a leviathan that more adroitly serves those with ready cash, than those in ready need! Knowing this, let’s now turn our attention to the Westboro Baptist Church. The Church has a legitimate complaint against the offensive and pervasive rise in the Homosexual agenda and homosexual animosity, in the US, overall. However, their animated and drollish atempts to bring public attention to this fact fall on the purposefully deaf ears and blind eyes of the mainstream media, and therefore, in their opinion, on the larger US population in general. Hence, WBC believes, and I think incorrectly, the way for them to get their message out is through the use of guerrilla warfare and their offensive tactic of showing up at the funerals, uninvited and sometimes unannounced, of soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen, and offensively and boistrously disrupting the funerals. They’ve made a name for themselves using these tactics and that part of their ‘political offensive’ hasn’t been lost of the MSM!

I’ve noticed that the Left seems to be driving a stake through the hearts of the families of the dead soldiers and their appreciation and support for the health of the First Amendment. It’s rather subtle, but I see their intent clearly: position the general public to become receptive to the idea that somehow the Constitution protected all speech and that all speech is somehow equal. Subtle and misleading and incorrect. All speech includes polite speech, speech which by its very definition needs no protection, and protected speech, which includes political speech, or speech which requires Constitutional protections. Our problem today is that a lot of the Amendments were left purposely ambiguous for the reason that the more tightly you refine and define a right, the less of a right and the more of a privilege it becomes. Rights are given by GOD and privileges can be given and taken at any time by anyone. Here’s where the Founders assumed we’d be using COMMON SENSE, and come to find out…well, enough said. Look, Mr. WTF, I understand your apprehensions regarding the rights of the Westboro folks to voice a loud and clear and very narrow objection to the utter filth that is degenerate and promiscuous homosexuality, however, the message is more of a media insider joke than a serious general debate, namely because a degenerate and promiscuous media aligns itself with the target of WBC’s attack. WBC has the right view on homosexuality, but the wrong target for their attack. They seek to bring an issue of concern into the national debate, in the wrong way, and thereby suffer the same stupidity and hubris the media does regarding this issue. Whether this is by design or by accident doesn’t really matter to the families of our fallen brethren in arms; they want to mourn their loss, without the vindictive and hateful screed and remarks from WBC and the media wants to minstrel to their gallery. Those of us who see what is actually going on have an all together different take and we believe the intent of our enemy is far more sinister than just egging on a few yahoos standing outside of a cemetary while someone else’s child is being buried. Their intent is to form the debate in such a way that we actually give up our right to free speech…freely, so to speak.

When or if that happens, all bets are off as to how long we will remain a republic. So, yes WBC has a protected right to screech and moan about the homosexual agenda, though most of foo-foodom might object, they do not, however, have the right to impugn dead soldiers and their grieving families during their funerals. It doesn’t matter whether or not they stand on public property when they chant their vile invectives, it’s a matter of private decorum and charity, a tenet of Christianity they seem to overlook! So, while I applaud their right to free speech, I don’t approve of how they manage to impose their practice of it, on the rest of us, nor where they manage to express it. Wrong place, wrong message. They need to grow a pair and take their fight to DC where it belongs. And I say, Good Luck with that!

PS WBC had you not been such a gaggle of misguided, unAmerican poltroons, I might have given you aid and comfort for your otherwise worthy efforts, but as things stand now I’m more likely to say STFD and STFU!

My, my! How does a definition of the scope and purpose of parts of the First Amendment to the Constitution or the United States of America merit two thumbs down, with narry a critique? Someone want to ‘splain that to me?

I thought this story would be well-received, but we are surprised at how extremely popular it has become in a such short time this morning, especially given it’s a Saturday on a holiday weekend. As I write there are already 1325 Facebook Shares, probably the most we’ve seen in such a short time.

We think this is a story that has to be popularized even more. We would never encourage violence, but we want every town that Westboro targets with their sick protest to know that they can stand up and intimidate these fake Christians.

So we ask that each of you please post our story on the forums you go to, share the story on your Facebook page, Tweet it, pop it on a blog you might write or comment in, and to you Stumbler out there, please Stumble it (stumble is very powerful). Post it everywhere you can think of.

Here’a short link to it I made up that is easy to remember:

http://tinyurl.com/fight-westboro

Please, pass it around. Let’s make sure every town in every state stands up to these bastards.

THIS IS THE MOST HORRIBLE THING I’VE EVER HEARD.

What is wrong with you people?! I hate what someone has to say so I’m going to beat them up over it?! As a veteran I have nothing but contempt for WBC, but we had a saying in the military: “I may not agree with what you say, but I will give m life defending your right to say it.” But I guess that’s no longer the prevailing opinion. It’s now more like “I may not agree with what you say, so I’m going to cause you physical harm until you stop saying it. Because no one has ever committeed great atrocities trying to silence those with a differen opinion.”

whiskeyriver
Guest

You are full of shit, you are not a veteran. If you were you would know the difference between being able to say what you want as a free American citizen and having no respect for those that protect that right.

These clowns can protest all they want in front of the White House, the Pentagon, any military base in the country. They can state their case on CNN, Fox, MSNBC, any radio or television news station that will listen to them. Right or wrong, these soldiers died doing what their Commander-in-Chief asked them to do and to show such disrespect for the soldier, instead of the Commander, is wrong, period, no discussion allowed.

KimmyQueen

They could STILL say what they wanted to say, but it is ALSO the right of the citizens of the town to make THEIR feelings known. Some people DESERVED to get a beating. Like that boy in Australia several weeks ago.

Protesting the wrong cause at the wrong occasion.
Being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Saying the wrong thing to the wrong person.
Sometimes stupidity just catches up to you.
These people have been extremely fortunate up till now.
I agree with you, but sometimes people are just asking for it.

Dude. Thanks for serving. When these shit sticks come to your funeral to spew what that crack has on her sign, you’ll be dead. We’ll be here to beat the shit out of her, and it won’t matter to you any more. I know, it’s horrible, but it’s reality. That’s my 1st ammendment you fought for.

That’s Southern justice and ingenuity, WAY to GO folks. Now will the lessons be learned or are these people so damn stupid that they will show up again.

They came to where I live during the funeral of a co-worker. The patriot guard made sure that they where far enough away from the family and the home owners associations where they attempted to setup had them removed off private property.

It had rained the night before and there was a very large pool of water on the side of the road. It was dry within a few minutes of their attempt to stand on the side of the road.

It was a good ol Kentucky Baptism

I hate hate groups masquerading as a Christian church.
To display that hate at the funerals of soldiers who died fighting for our freedoms including freedom of speech, just to get attention, is despicable.

When I get home from work I usually turn on the telly and check out the days news. When I get up in the morning I usually flip through the channels, Fox and the Lame Stream Media channels just to be fair, to see what is going on across the country. Why is it that I have heard nothing about this on any news network? Not one damn national news network has reported on this? Am I tuning in at the wrong time of the day or what?

Thank you IHTM for bringing this upbeat(ing) story to us. I will share this story on other sites I go to, a lot of them veterans blog sites, so others will know there is some justice in this world after all!

I have No respect for chickensh*t cowards like that who hid behind the constitutional amendments that our men and women uphold for them. and to disrespect them, their families, and their country like that during a time of sorrow. absolutely DISGUSTING behavior. They deserved every ass kicking and inconvenience that REAL countrymen can muster up. If this country is so horrible move somewhere and put a towel on your head or a veil over your face if you are ashamed to live here. I’m proud of you Brandon, Mississippi. Our country needs more people like you all to stand up. It’s not about being “politially correct” (weak). It’s about having “Class” and “Heart”. God Bless you all . Yes I said “God”, want to do somthing about it?!

deepthinker

1idahogirl68

Let me attempt to explain this. Those who stand in harms way or have stood in its way know many hate us for it. We took an oath to up hold the constitution no just parts of it.

There is no explaining the idiocy of some and or their cold and callous actions. This is by far the greatest nation in the world. Letting stupid people make fools of them selves is one of its greatness.

Liz
Member

I would like to know which of these people you are calling stupid?

I totally agree with 1idahogirl68 that the people of Westboro are cowards.

But deepthinker, you contradicted yourself. “We took an oath to uphold the constitution, not just parts of it.”

That is where the contradiction comes in. Westboro still has the right to free speech as much as anyone else in this country, even though the speech is despicable. And they have been backed up by the Supreme Court in a recent ruling.

I back the citizens in Brandon for what they did. It is about time that the citizens of this country start showing that they have a backbone, but I think that these people had better watch their backs because Westboro has some very nasty attorneys and the whole town may be in for some big trouble.

So how do you explain the disgusting travesty of justice in Dearbornistan yesterday? Good by free speech, hello sharia.

Liz

sablegsd

I checked out some videos. I hope you are talking about Terry Jones. I listened to the mayor of Dearborn and he sounded pretty reasonable, but then he got onto the Beat Terry Jones bandwagon. So he kind of blew it with me there.

Why didn’t Terry Jones just protest where they asked him to? Because it was not in front of the Islamic Center. So Terry Jones becomes a little suspect to me.

If Terry Jones wants to be taken seriously, than he has to take what towns are willing to give and then get his point across. He becomes a laughing stock if he goes to court and looses and then leaves.

Every town is going to do everything that they can to keep him out, especially a town like Dearborn, so he has to learn to take what he can get.

If they shut him down without any reasoning, then he can turn around and file a suit about them denying him his rights.

I would like to go out and punch these A$$E$, but all you do is get “yourself” in trouble. We need to be able to change peoples minds and the only way to do that is to be able to talk to them.

Way to go Brandon!!! I’ve been waiting to see something like this for a long time. Westboro may be acting within the law, but they are morally reprehensible. It’s hard enough to lose a loved one, but to have these f***ing morons yelling and screaming and waving their signs while your family is grieving the loss of a young person who died while serving their country is completely disgusting.
