Boxer Floyd Mayweather is on tonight’s card. Unfortunately, it’s the race card.

Proving that you don’t have to be a former President to make ignorant comments about race, super welterweight Floyd Mayweather said that everyone in England (where there are no racists) loves him, unlike here in racist America.

Proving that you don’t have to be a former President to make ignorant comments about race, super welterweight Floyd Mayweather said that everyone in England (where there are no racists) loves him, unlike here in racist America.

The misunderstood and under-loved boxer told ESPN, “This country needs to be more positive. We’re already at war. We’re in a recession. We’re at war and we continue to be negative. The fans in the UK showed me more love than in my own country. That’s crazy … Sometimes I’ll sit back, I’ll be in my theater sometimes, and I’ll think: ‘Imagine if I was the same fighter that I am, and I was the same person that I am, and I was from another country. Can you just imagine how big I’d be?’

Then demonstrating his knowledge of all things racial Mayweather goes on to say, “If Floyd Mayweather was white, I’d be the biggest athlete in America. The biggest, the biggest. I know that for a fact.” He also added that “One thing you never hear. You never hear anything negative about Oscar De La Hoya,” he said. “Anything he do negative, it gets swept under the rug.”

He continued by complaining about the HBO’s broadcasters who will call his latest fight on Saturday.

“Larry Merchant don’t know nothing about boxing,” Mayweather said and then — using the classic racial epithet of all individuals with whom members of their own race disagree — Mayweather said, “What’s that other guy’s name [at HBO]? [Emanuel Steward]. He’s an Uncle Tom.” Mayweather concluded at last by saying “One thing you can’t knock. You can not knock my talent.”

Perhaps, Floyd, that’s because your talent, unlike your brain, doesn’t talk out its ass.
