Coffee Party doesn’t know beans about drawing a crowd

by editor on September 29, 2010

Remember when the Coffee Party was founded – with great fanfare from the media despite attracting a “crowd” of fewer than a dozen people – as a counter-protest to the Tea Party?

Well, the Coffee Party has proven itself to be quite a little success. In nine short months, they’ve gone from filling the corner of a coffee shop to filling the corner of a hotel ballroom in beautiful, downtown Louisville, Kentucky.

Annabel Park, founder of the Coffee Party, always looks like her best friend just died

The Courier-Journal reports:

The Coffee Party USA — which was founded on Facebook and is holding its first national convention in Louisville this weekend — bills itself as a more thoughtful and reasoned alternative to the tea party.

Saturday night the organization held a panel discussion, part of its three-day “Restoring American Democracy” convention, that included bloggers, college professors and communications strategists talking about what they can do to make politics more inclusive. They also discussed how to draw more disenfranchised voters back into the democratic process.

The discussion before about 350 people at the Galt House touched on policy, politics and values and how to bridge the partisan divide.

350 people? Surely, that’s a typo. Americans are clambering for more government, more taxes, more intrusion into their lives, aren’t they? Surely a few digits were accidentally omitted and the accurate figure was 350,000. No. We just confirmed. 350 is the correct number. And that included reporters and bus boys.

Ironic, isn’t it, that a gaggle of left wing lunatics should meet at a place called Galt House?

Ayn Rand would laugh her ass off.

More thoughtful and reasoned? Than the Tea Party? Somehow I doubt it.

I saw Bill Maher last night on O’Reilly and he said that the left doesnt have fringes NOR movements that are important enough to talk about. In many ways he was right, but not for the reasons he thinks. The problem is that even though the NUMBERS are not there, they bark the loudest AND have control over the main media. That is the problem.

Now as far as these clowns are concerned, they may want to replicate the tea parties all they want, but unless they associate with code pink and move on and other organizations and they might they will not be any important at any point in history.

[Imagine Robert Shaw’s voice]: “Did you ever see the eyes of Anabel Park? How about David Corn?…..or Mohammed Atta?…they’re dead, like doll’s eyes”

The best part: The convention is being held at the Galt House Convention Center in Louisville. Epic irony.

In November we’re coming after the looters.

I’m missing something…what is ironic about it?

Read “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand and you’ll figure it out.

Ah yah.. I think I’ll just google the reference 🙂 I’ve tried reading atlas shrugged… Not something I really want to ever attempt again. The book seemed both ponderous and pretentious when at that time… Maybe I’ll try it again someday. I’ll buy it when I get a kindle XD.

Try Robert Heinlein’s ‘The Moon is a Harsh Mistress’. A lot of the same sentiments (in fact he makes allusions to both Ayn Rand and John Galt in the novel) but about a third of the length, not nearly so many speeches and a really good story line. No slight against Rand of course.

Actually I rather enjoyed A moon is a harsh mistress, it is probably my favorite Heinlein book. I haven’t read it in year though and do remember those references in the book, but I am guessing I didn’t totally grasp their significance. I should look that book up again…

Ah I feel like a total douche for just assuming you’d not read it. It blew my mind. His grasp of everything from political theory, monetary policy and economics to astrophysics and game were stunning. After having read the book I felt that I should go back, learn a whole lot more about a whole lot of different things and then read the book again.

Ah don’t worry about it. I wasn’t offended.

Yeah Heinlein wasn’t afraid to put his world view in his books, heh. I’m not a fan of all his works (Stranger in a Strange Land is not one I hold in high esteem) but I love books like Moon and Starship Troopers. I might not agree with everything in them, but they combine politics and adventure in a way that few Authors can seem to manage.

No sarc this time…..

Look closely at that face. That is the face that is beyond hope, beyond despair, beyond tears. That is the face of shattered illusions, of broken dreams, of trust betrayed.

Look closely at that face. That will be the face of America if we can’t get rid of Obama and ALL his Progressive Marxist/Socialist Congress, Judges, Czars, Agencies etc.

Look closely at that face. That is the face of resignation. That will be the face of involuntary American serf-hood under Socialism.

….This is the first I’ve heard of the coffee party. Must be pretty popular.

I agree YT there is something about liberals, I sware I can spot them a mile off.

KimmyQueen

Yes. For some reason it is just so easy to spot liberal women. Liberal men are a bit harder.

perlcat

Yeah — letting oneself go is always more noticeable in women, who, in all cases, except for liberal womyn, take care in their appearance. American women seem to do this more often than, say European or South American women. Seems like most lib women take it as a challenge to see how nasty they can be.

I think that they want to rely on the inner beauty thing but the thing is that they don’t have it to begin with. They are fooling themselves.

I gotta laugh, the “coffee party”, what a joke. Now we all know about the “tea party”-both current & origional, I know Sirius/XM’s Mike Church has the “beer party patriot movement”, & Alice Cooper had “the wild party”. WTF, the coffee party, & yeah, I remember when I saw Annabel Park sitting at her desk in front of a computer, planning America’s demise, & the MSM kissing her/their ass. I just have to laugh, but don’t kid yourself, we need to track these folks to make sure they ain’t causing trouble, because in the end, that’s all that progressives are good for.

Seems the coffee party is now running on decaf … do Park and Garofolo go to the same “beauty” parlor?

Oh, and the babes in the back – they belong to the “hot chocolate” party …. umpf

Has anyone ever noticed that democrat women (or is it womyn?) that are out of college are typically ugly as sin? Is it the liberalness inside them that turns them ugly or are they just bitter hags, jealous of the other girls and longing for children they can no longer have, which them to tell everyone else how to live?

Jeesh, look at the ugly mugs in that photo. It shouldn’t be called the coffee party but “The ugly b1tches that deserve pity committee”

KimmyQueen

It really wouldn’t hurt to put SOME effort into their appearance ESPECIALLY if they are going to appear on camera. Perhaps their lib mentality tell them that makeup is a yoke from a male dominated society.

Looks like a bit of rouge on her cheeks, unless she was witch-slapped by a struggling tax-payer.

She looks flustered… or maybe she is just embarrassed to be there and just doesn’t want to admit it to herself. The girls in the back look better she should have used them instead.
