Congressman: You voted Republican because you “don’t want to be governed by an African-American”

by editor on February 1, 2011

Here we go again. Virginia Democratic Rep. Jim Moran has proudly announced –- to an Arab television network, no less –- that the Democrats lost in November because American voters are raaaaacists.

It must have been late in the evening and all the important congressman must have already gone home when the Alhurra television director looked around the room and said to the reporter, “Go talk to that guy over there who’s been trying to get on camera all night.” They stuck a microphone in front of oddball Virginia Congressman Moran and the Democrat actually said his party’s losses are the result of today’s political environment being very similar to the period just before the Civil War.

“It happened … for the same reason the Civil War happened in the United States,” Moran said. “Southern states, particularly the slaveholding states, didn’t want to see a president who was opposed to slavery.

“In this case a lot of people in this country, it’s my belief, don’t want to be governed by an African-American, particularly one who is inclusive, who is liberal, who wants to spend money on everyone and who wants to reach out to include everyone in our society. And that’s a basic philosophical clash,” Moran said.

A hat tip for this story to IHTM commenter WhiskeyRiver, whose comment serves as our closing line to this story:

“I would say he is right. I don’t feel “comfortable” having an African-American in the White House. Now, if we had an American in the White House, who happened to be black, I would have no problem at all.”

Seeing as how Moran was the one to rush to bring racism to the conversation, it must be that is where HIS mind is all the time. Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much (apologies to Shakespeare for stealing his thunder).

Moran said. “Southern states, particularly the slaveholding states, didn’t want to see a president who was opposed to slavery.”

Yes, and those Southern slaveholding states were DEMOCRACTS, you fool! And the president who opposed slavery was a Republican, you fool squared.

Geez. A freaking Canadian has to teach you American history?!

To quote one of your most famous Americans, “What an ultra-maroon!”

Actually, yes. History isn’t taught in pubic skools anymore, not real history. Most of the textbooks used today have a lot of the truth edited out or left out altogether so most kids here never learn anything about our history. For example, go to the library and look at a high school level history book. You will find two pages, that’s right just TWO PAGES on the Vietnam War. And that pisses me off to no end.

How are kids today supposed to understand why we were there, what me and hundreds of thousands of Americans were fighting for, how things went wrong because of politics, how not to repeat the same mistakes again if they are not taught?

Rant is over. In todays lingo I think Moron is refered to as an “uber-moron”.

You bet i want an african american as POTUS. His name is Allen West. Though he himself does not refer to himself as an african american but simply and American.

I read up on Allen West and I would vote for him anytime. Tough talking, to the point, and seems to have a good grasp of what our problems are in this country.

I cast my (illegal) vote for Condoleezza Rice.

But I think she might still have her eye on Roger Goodell’s job, which would be a whole lot more fun.

Commissioner Rice. Yeah, that has a nice ring to it.

I would pay very good money for a front row seat to a Condi Rice and Barack Obama debate.
I just know that whatever brain cells Captain Zero has left would be vaporized by a sideways glance from Condi and the spin doctors would be working overtime just counting all the “uh…uh…uh…uh’s”.

Condi would brutalize Obongo.

The funny thing about it, is that I seriously doubt she has to try that hard.

Hell Barb, why not? The democraps get away with it all the time so we should start using their tactics to get people like Condi elected!

First off, OBAMA ISN’T BLACK–he’s taupe which is a lovely shade of beige. I don’t care if he’s a person of color–but I do care deeply and take great umbrage to the fact that he’s an America-hating Communist. Black doesn’t matter to me–RED matters greatly.

I, too, am a person of color.

And you’d most likely make a better president than the one we have now, Barb. Being of color and all.

Funny you should mention that, because I wasn’t born in America either. The coincidences just keep mounting, don’t they?!

That was hilarious!

Idiot.

If we look at his family history will I find slave owning people? Uhm…? Are feeling a twinge of white guilty Moron?

Whatever… the white guilt of the morons that voted for him the first time around has been assuaged in many cases by the realization that their white guilt was wasted on Obama… so they voted the other way around. That doesn’t make them racists, it makes them realists not idealists as before. It means people have woken up. It is not about them being racists is about people waking up on the truth and liberals don’t like that.

Who wants to spend money on everyone? Let me rework that a little. Who wants to spend everyone’s money. Now, there, isn’t that more like it?

I could have sworn that the media dropped, or at least significantly dropped back, on the use of racism as an accusation for those of us who don’t like our leader….Clearly the politicians didn’t get that memo.

If pro is the opposite con, what’s the opposite of progress?

I lived in Alexandria VA when Moron was mayor. He cried racism every chance he could. He and he alone, is solely responsible for the death of hostage negotiator who was attempting to have black man surrender while holding his ex wife hostage. Instead the offender raised his weapon and shot the negotiator dead on national TV. Moron would not let the SWAT team take the man out until an officer was killed in the line of duty.

This fool is a BIGOT and a race baiter. I’m no racist, I have no problem with someone skin color. I have a BIG problem when a communist is trying to destroy the country I live in and will stop at nothing to do so.

Jim Moron is the classic liberal whine bag.

Moron is right, I don’t want an African-American in the White House. I want an American in the White House and if he/she happens to be black I have no problem with it at all. I feel the same way about a Chinese-American, Mexican-American, Cuban-American, any name you want to put in front of it-American. If you are not proud enought to stand up and say I am an American, period, then you have no business in public office and I’ll be damned before I would vote for you.

We have had a socialist in the office before, Jimmy Carter is the latest example, but at least he was proud to be an American and didn’t have any hyphens in his ethnic background, or whatever you call it. He was never refered to as the White Guy from Georgia-American.

Clearly there are racists out there who oppose Obama due to that core principle. I’m sure it aligns nicely with other political philosophies

I imagine they are counter-balanced by those voters who simply wanted to get a minority elected President..

Both motives are stupid.. And, is the African-American vs American contrast a Birther thing? How birther-ing is it here?

Black socialist, white socialist, brown socialist doesn’t matter, I do not want a socialist as our President. The libs keep jumping the shark with this racist lie. It is truly a shame that the first mixed race president is less competent than a paper weight.

Okay, in 2008 we weren’t racists when Obama won election to the White House; yet two years later, after handing the Democrats epic an “shellacking”, Moran believes America has rediscovered its inner racist. Moran is an idiot and the Democrats are intellectually bankrupt, the race card has been played too many times—nobody is listening anymore.

BTW, I love this line from Moron “[Obama] wants to spend money on everybody…”. Right, money we don’t have anymore thanks to fools like Obama and Moran.

It’s got to the point that when I see a a libtard/prog/dumbocrat get in front of a microphone, waiting for him/her to scream “raaacism” is like waiting for Norm to show up at Cheers and hear the whole bar yell, “NORM!”

I don’t want to be governed by the black dude in the WH right now! Give me Alan West, or Herman Cain-and I will be a happy man!

This “Congressman” is a douchebag!

I can`t lower myself to the level of stupidity it would take to understand Congressman Moron.

No, Congressman Moron, I just don’t want to be governed by THAT African-American.

I don’t care about color of skin, just content of character.
