Green is out at Wal-Mart. Unless you’re talking about the color of money.

by editor on April 17, 2011

Bad news for Al Gore. The environment has turned hostile for environmentalists at Wal-Mart. Former Gore senior aide Leslie Dach’s attempt to turn the retail giant into a Gore store has succeeded about as well as the Gore presidency.

Imagine an elitist Al Gore acolyte trying to figure out the minds of Wal-Mart customers

PajamasMedia.com reports the retail heartbreak:

In July 2006, Dach was installed as the public relations chief for Wal-Mart. He drafted a number of other progressives into the company, seeking to change the company’s way of doing business: its culture, its politics, and most importantly its products.

Out went drab, inexpensive merchandise so dear to low-income Americans. In came upscale organic foods, “green” products, trendy jeans, and political correctness. In other words, Dach sought to expose poor working Americans to the “good life” of the wealthy, environmentally conscious Prius driver.

Turns out green put Wal-Mart in the red:

After suffering seven straight quarters of losses, today the merchandise giant Wal-Mart will announce that it is “going back to basics,” ending its era of high-end organic foods, going “green,” and the remainder of its appeal to the upscale market. Next month the company will launch an “It’s Back” campaign to woo the millions of customers who have fled the store.

Fear not. The Wall Street Journal reports that Wal-Mart’s brief excursion into environmental activism has come to an end and rational retail is back in style:

Starting in May, Wal-Mart shoppers in the U.S. will see signs in stores heralding the return of fishing tackle, bolts of fabric and other ‘heritage’ merchandise that Wal-Mart reduced or cut out altogether as it attempted to spruce up its stores …

Do you think Al Gore has ever set foot in a Wal-Mart?

Worse yet, you know that, somewhere out there, somebody’s thing how hot she looks.

Okay… I am sorry but that lady is just gross…I don’t care about the obesity, but the dress is just disgusting on her body. You can see every single dimple, that is just nasty.

Sorry KQ, you ain’t seen nothing yet. If this was the worst thing I had seen at a WalMart I would be a happy camper!

There is a website out there, I think it is called WalMart shoppers you don’t want to see or something like that. If you can find it you will see pictures taken by WalMart shoppers that make this woman look normal!

Someone emailed me those photos one and I think IHTM had done a story on it. It is really gross. Don’t get me wrong I am all for liberties and freedoms, but I am also for responsibility and good taste.

They just make me sad.

Between people enslaved by their appetite and the mentally unstable that only come out at night, it is depressing. However, I think that those pictures produced as “evidence” of what you’ll find at Wal-Mart are actually lib propaganda — while I’ve certainly seen many overweight and freakish people, the real freak show is in DC, SF, & LA.

They’re trying to imply that only freaks shop at Wal-Mart to get the whole world to hate them and stop shopping at Wal-Mart. It is like looking at those propaganda films from Germany in the 1930’s, where they were trying to generate enthusiasm for first euthanasia, then uegenics by showing mentally ill people doing stupid things. Shameful, really.

I have to agree. I am inclined to believe that this is the exception not the rule. Target a non American company would like to categorize themselves as chi-chi fru-fru, but I am sure that people like this also shop there. It is what it is, but it is still sad nevertheless. I am not hating because she is fat, that is her business, but she doesnt need to put herself out for ridicule. If she had worn something appropriate no one would have cared.

I even follow them on Twitter. They send me funny pictures on my phone every day. Then, once in a while, I go to the local Wally World to see it in person.

I agree. I have the day off today, I’m sitting at the ‘puter writing this in the sloppy sweats I wear around the house. I have not hit the shower yet, shaved my face or even combed my hair, but I am in my home and not out in public!

If I have to go out in public for any reason, to go shopping, go to work, even making a quick trip to buy a loaf of bread, I wash, shave and put on decent clothing. I work in a convienence store in the small town I live in and it amazes me how many people, especially women, will go out in public in sloppy old sweats or their pajamas!

I agree, when I am in my house and I know that no one is coming I do whatever the heck I want. Even if I go out to get the mail, I make an effort to look presentable even if comfortable. It is not cute for men and women to go out looking like slobs. This “I don’t give a crap attitude” is not healthy. I do believe in self-esteem and not measuring oneself by others and so on, but we don’t live in this world alone. My Mother says all the time, if you don’t make an effort to look presentable and appropriate no matter where you go and whom you meet, you may loose opportunities in life that you would otherwise have had. People WILL judge you and only you can control what they judge. A person looking at the pink lady above, will not take her seriously at all for any real responsible position, even if she was qualified.

And when was the decision made that it’s ok to bring your pets into stores now? Every time I go out, there’s somebody with a dog in the basket, or carrying it, or just letting it run wild like their children. One picture on http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/ shows a goat walking around in the store.

“Fierce” is definetly not a word I am thinking when I am looking at her LOL

I’m thinking that shade of pink is rather PO’ed, though.

Sometimes, I think that taste in clothing can devolve into a form of insanity.

RockingHorseGuy

Look closely, ( I know, it’s not easy), and you’ll see that the thing she is wearing is actually a dress, and she’s not wearing leggins, tights, or anything else with it. A bit short, maybe?

perlcat

I dunno — I already gouged my mind’s eye out after seeing it for the first time.

So I guess we got a morbidly obese hot pink short dress wearing with cellulite showing poster in here…

You know what they say, “If you’ve got no idea, flaunt it.” –erm, that didn’t come out right. Well, at least her mother loves her.

Green is the new red.

If this blurb doesn’t show the world that leftists are exactly like a virus. contribute nothing and multiply like crazy until the host organism is killed.

Wonder what sort of threats were put to wal mart to extort this asshat in the door. Thats the other problem…while everyone else is busy working hard and trying to navigate our “free” country these people are busy plotting. They all need to be hung. Its time there was a right wing jacobin reign of terror. But we’ll call it “take our the trash time”

Wal-Mart has done more for poor people than any ten liberals, at least nine of whom are almost guaranteed to hate Wal-Mart.
-Thomas Sowell

That’s probably why the Left feels it necessary to destroy it.

RockingHorseGuy

That Mr. Sowell is a smart man. I’d love to see him run as VP on the Cain/Sowell ticket. A man that understands economics. Imagine that.

It looks more like Leslie Dach wanted sneakily to drive Wal-Mart out of business. You know, it is an evil symbol to so much leftists that she would even have won the Peace Noberl Prize for that!

Wes

I’m amazed how the Left bashes “evil corporations” like Walmart but gives companies like “2.1% taxes” Google a pass.

I hope “going back to basics” includes more stores with gun departments. They have some pretty good prices.

perlcat

I can just imagine the interview where Dach was hired:

“So, Mr, Dach. Have you ever shopped at Wal-Mart?”
“No.”
“Will you ever shop at Wal-Mart?”
“No.”
“Will you make changes to Wal-Mart to make them to appeal to people like you?”
“Yes”.
“When you’ve made the changes, will people like you ever shop there?”
“No.”
“Will the people who now shop at Wal-Mart shop there after you’ve made your changes?”
“Probably not. They’re nothing like me and the people like me.”

What’s not to love about the imbeciles that hired him? Not only are the Leslie Daches of the world America Haters, they hate the American people, and you cannot appease them into liking the American people, because that’s just not how they operate.

I don’t particularly care for a lot of what Wal-Mart does, but they do make it possible for Americans without a lot of money to live better. They fill a need, not every American is a supermodel, and I think the hatefulness towards the Wal-Mart shoppers is one of the nastier aspects of liberal elitism.

There are dozens of poor people shopping there for every 400lb porker you see there. If libs loved the poor so damned much that they want to give them handouts for not working, why don’t they want them to be able to stretch their money as far as possible?

Why don’t they love these people that become morbidly obese because they don’t have to roust their asses out of bed and work? Why do liberals produce mindless show after mindless show to keep these people on the couch, eating their chips? This is a problem they’ve created — why don’t they embrace it?

It would mean having to take ‘responsibility for the sh*t that they do, and you know they can never admit to being ‘responsible’ for anything bad…ever! They only intend goodness and light(ness), never meanness or dumbness; no they reserve those latter conditions for the rest of us, the ‘unwashed and uncouth’ masses!

I am staying away for awhile. I fully expect there will be a stampede when they announce “Twinkies on sale in aisle 10!” Should rival the running of the bulls in Pampalona.

Why did the pr guy get to make product and merchandising decisions in the first place? PR people make you think frozen yogurt, red bull and granola bars are actually healthy. c’mon.

Hey, easy on the El Toro Rojo now. How else am I supposed to stay awake those long nights working on the Southern California freeways that are falling apart?

Not at the speed I’m traveling. The semi-truck I drive is attached to a machine that travels at about 1/4 m.p.h., grinding the bumps out of the concrete road surface. When we get done, it’s like driving on glass. But driving a truck at that speed all night, I really need some serious caffeine.

I hadn’t noticed any trendy crap being foisted on us here in Kentucky, maybe we’re better able to recognize Al Gore because of all the damage he’s caused the tobacco industry in this state. Most country people see right through this POS and like the saying goes regarding ‘birds of a feather’ this guy Dach looks and smells like the one who sent him! What in the hell was this Dach guy doing in charge of WalMart anyway? Did Al Gorlioni buy WalMart or something?

KimmyQueen
Guest

I salute Walmart for this, but I too didn’t notice this “Green” movement down here either. Perhaps southern states Walmart stores knew that crap wasn’t going to sell.

Plainsman

Damn…. Such an incredible waste of profits! I hope the Walmart execs got their fill of the “green” movement. I can’t believe that they are so ignorant of their customer base. Seven quarters of losses? I wonder how many heads rolled at WM? There are market niches where this sort of theme works, like in big cities that are generally full of liberal pukes, but the Walmart niche just ain’t the place for this.

Ruben

A pal o’ mine who had worked 20+ years as an exec for Walmart was canned last year because he wouldn’t go along to get along with the greenshirt Nazis.

Wonder if he’ll be hired back as a Heritage merchandise?

perlcat
Member

Doubt it. The thing about working for an asshat is that they are an asshat. There is no cure. They’ll never admit they were wrong. In fact, they weren’t so much wrong as they were outright stupid. They need about 11 management reorgs to get their sh*t together, start remembering the customer, like ol’ Sam did.

Well, to me it looked more like a hot pink cow, whose rider was potato chips and other processed snacks while flopped on a couch, waiting for the government check.
