Harvard students can’t name the capital of Canada. This comes on top of last week’s report by Business Insider that most Harvard students couldn’t answer this simple logic problem:

A bat and ball cost $1.10.
The bat costs one dollar more than the ball.
How much does the ball cost?

The scary part? These people are running the country.

C – eh – N – eh – D – eh.

I have worked with many Harvard grads in my long life, and I’ve never been impressed with any of them.

Problem solving and critical thinking are no longer necessary, just do what you’re told! Common Core = Borg in training

Do they get this stupid at Harvard before or after a stint at Columbia University?

Missile Command

Based on the one data point we all have, it appears the stupidity is present before “education” begins and is reinforced and increasd by the Harvard experience.

I see what you did there.

Unfortunately, Kip Hooker commented on the “Top Hospitals Opting Out of Obamacare” thread and woke the beast!
Now she’s writing 3000 word screeds again.

Don’t these kids watch MASH reruns or their Ipads? Everybody knows it Ottumwa, Radar is from there!

(quick, somebody hit google trends and see how many people looked it up after forwarding this story to all their friends)

poppajoe49
Member

So is Tom Arnold. That explains his lousy humor, he’s Canadian!

JPTravis
Member

Why was Radar in an American MASH unit if he was from Canada, eh?

RKae
Member

Because… isn’t Canada a state in the U.S.?

Is this another trick question?

The capital of Canada is the ” le dollar.”

PsychoDad

I figured out how much the ball cost, but I had to write it all out!

ooddballz

as long as you can show how you came to the answer….it’s all good.

poppajoe49
Member

So if I said eleventy instead of 5 cents, I would still get credit?

sa_rose
Member

Sure. And double credit if you answered “potato.”

JPTravis
Member

In fact, under Common Core standards, being right is irrelevant as long as you can show how you got your answer. So to hell with the bat and the ball – it’s a corporatist capitalist imperialistic question anyway.

wingater
Member

Yeah. That was a trick question!

sa_rose

Word problems alwasy screw me up!

Joe Redfield

That ball/bat question only works if the Federal government is not involved in the transaction. Progressives would clamor for ‘ball stamps’, to subsidize those who can’t afford a nickel, and the Rino squishes would demand tax credits for ball manufacturers.
And, if memory serves, the capital of Canada is Austria.

JPTravis
Member

Only if you’re speaking Canadian.

fiftyville
Member

Then the proper answer would be “the capital of Canada is Austria, eh?”

JPTravis
Member

No, Austria is the capital of the 57th state. C’mon, man, ketchup.

wingater

Maybe I can still get into Harvard. I couldn’t name the capital of Canada either.

The correct answer at Harvard is Potato!

That Guy

The correct answer at Harvard is it doesn’t matter as long as you tried real hard.

GhostntheMachine
Member

You forgot the “e”.

JPTravis

The correct answer at Harvard is they will tell you how to spell it – there is no right answer, only obedience.

deepthinker

Over priced and under performing education, yea sounds just about right. Notice she found time for the blue dye though and has the far away eyes.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste, right along with her parents money.

poppajoe49

Isn’t quagmire an alumnus of Harvard?
That explains a lot.

sa_rose

Maybe. Since no one remembers him and he won’t release his transcripts, who knows?
