We’ll sleep a little easier tonight knowing that the New York Times hates the debt ceiling deal

by editor on August 1, 2011

Sunday’s debt ceiling deal is so complex that we couldn’t figure out if it was good or bad. Not, that is, until we found out how much the New York Times hates the deal.

It just doesn’t get any better than that.

angry-baby-face

Tantrum at the Times: Whaaaaaaaaaa!

Here’s the Times pissed off point of view:

There is little to like about the tentative agreement between Congressional leaders and the White House except that it happened at all. The deal would avert a catastrophic government default, immediately and probably through the end of 2012. The rest of it is a nearly complete capitulation to the hostage-taking demands of Republican extremists. It will hurt programs for the middle class and poor, and hinder an economic recovery.

It is not yet set in stone, and there may still be time to make it better. But in the end, most Democrats will have no choice but to swallow their fury, accept the deal, and, we hope, fight harder the next time.

We still don’t know how it will all shake out, but we know we rest a little easier knowing that the voice of the radical left hates this deal.

This blog from American Thinker sums up the debt ceiling deal and its likely impact well.

‎”China is not going to lend us this money because they simply don’t have anything close to that much money to lend. … They are going to print it out of thin air. We are in the midst of the largest currency debasement ever seen in human history.”

Obama just got reelected and the house and senate will be in donk hands.

It’s third party now that the repubs gakked this.

The republicans are going the way of the Whigs.

“the hostage-taking demands of Republican extremists.”

Heh. I like that.

Ya know, on 9/11/01, if those camelhumpers had aimed just a little more for 8th Ave., they coulda been heroes.

Has this monstrosity of a bill already passed the House? If it has, we conservatives need to melt the phone banks and the internet servers of the House, Senate, and WH and let these tripdicks know what “really pissed off’ looks like. Much more of this happy horse shit and the gubmints gonna get the armed insurrection they seem to be looking for. I doubt they have the necessary civil and paramilitary forces to deal with a balls to the wall insurrection. I’m sure not looking forward to one! And if Barry Boy wants to confiscate the assets of those who oppose him, he and this new grand army of pencil necked, dick faced, gubmint bureaucrats he’s going to need to catalog all the shit he steals from us are going to be kept busy 24/7. In the mean time, I’ll be putting my remaining stock in the lead market!

Honestly man, I’m almost in favor of just giving them America. Let all the true hard-working conservatives get an island or something. When the Liberals come to tax us, we can give them the licking we gave the British. Just this time, no slaves plox.

This whole thing is a SHAME. The cuts don’t kick in for years yet the spending goes right on. Then there is the nice little hidden fact that this deal allows for the Bush tax cuts to expire. SCREW it, shut down the whole damn place lock all of them in chambers and don’t let them out until they come out with a deal that the American people want, not one that barry, harry, mitch or john want. Stop pandering to the beltway crowd and start listening to us the voters your self righteous arrogant BASTARDS!!!!

As for the members of the TEA Party, hold together and stay the course. Show the career politicians what being elected by the people and for the people means.

I’m not interested in “Show the career politicians what being elected by the people and for the people means.” at all. I’m interested in showing them the door. They can join the private sector and live in the shit they have inflicted upon their nation.

This means that we’ll have to end the careers of the professional lobbyists, too. The Washington gravy train needs to come to a stop.

And now they will pass this monstrosity and pat each onther on the back about how wonderful they all were and saved the Nation from a crisis. I think if I see one more happy politician I am going to take my tv out in the backyard and put it out of it’s misery with a large number of rounds from my rifle.

What economic revcovery would the NYT be referring to? The 200,000 dollar(each) plus “shovel ready jobs? The screwing over of health care? The people in Washington are donkeys, and someone needs to get a two by four and make a wake up call buy smacking them upside the head to get their attention. then we can sit down and tell them what we want, and what they are not going to get.

This whole disaster in the making is just another example of lots of men with no balls taking the easy road out so they can claim they fixed the problem. Stop spending money on penis studies, and fairy farms, and killing businesses. Stop buying votes by giving those who won’t work mo money. and stop funding every other country in the world. Let them fall flat on their face if thats what it takes. We could be in da money if these idiots would stop feeling the need to payoff everyone like a cheap mobster.

“…hinder an economic recovery”… Which economic recovery are they talking about? The one that didn’t happen and still isn’t happening thanks to the Slush-ulus and Obamacare fiascos? Or the one that WILL happen as soon as Obama and the rest of his fascist clowns are history?

“It will hurt programs for the middle class and poor, and hinder an economic recovery.” The more I hear how much the left hates it… LOL In all truth, everything the Proggies say will happen after these bills are passed (unemployment won’t go above 8%; 400K jobs will be created immediately with 3million down the line; etc.) have not come to pass. I’m thinking the same will be true with this bill. I think the middle class has carried the burden of the Proggies’ disastrous policies and regulations. I guess they’ll just have to pass it to see what’s in it, again…. cause they can’t be bothered to read any bill before they vote it up or down anyway.

First-we are not, and were not in danger of default.
Second-the deal is far from anything that we conservatives want/wanted-and we are going to recall boehner and mcconnell over it.
Third-The NYT are a bunch of f-cking liars. This is not the first time, and it won’t be the last. But they truly are subversive and should be investigated by the bureau for attempting to incite riots, etc. They are truly evil.
Lastly, the US takes in 200b monthly in federal tax money, and thus is far and above the 160b or so in liabilities. The fact that the soetoro administration is floating these lies should be looked at closer.
What really happened is that the rating agencies told O and his useful idiots that we were going to be downgraded because of our DTI. therefore, the morons, who have never run businesses figured, we will just get more dough and our debt to income ration will be reduced. Problem is, more spending will get us a downgraded rating anyway. And it will happen, and it won’t be armageddon as the retards on the left try so fervently to jam up our asses.
Long and short, this administration and their co-conspirators in congress are too stupid to know how to run a business and thus have run the business of the USA into the ground. If a publicly traded company went 1 quarter without a budget, let alone 850 days, they would be taken over by SEC, and that would be that. This government continues to trod upon our constitution as if it were a door mat, and it must stop.
Currently, not only is this debacle going on, but barry quietly signed an EO last week, so that anyone he deems a “criminal enterprise” can have their assets ceased by the G-think about that-anyone the President deems criminal can have their assets frozen/ceased without due process. Think about the enemies list this asshole has compiled-and imagine a day when he starts ceasing assets of Joe Shit The Rag Man, cause he posts on IHTM against the administration!

Now, think about this-the president has been for months “rewriting” the constitution, and will float a constitutional convention shortly. During the time he has had DoJ and his own minions working on that, they have been quietly putting up fights in every state, to contest voter id laws. Remember, the constitution can only be changed by a majority vote of the electorate-not electoral college-but a majority vote by voters. If no one has to show ID to vote, they can vote 1200 times, by going to different polling stations and saying they are someone else.

The end is near, unless the congress straps on a set of stones, and stops allowing the bullshit to fly from the white house, and they impeach this moron. The debt ceiling is a “watch this hand” opportunity for the soetoro regime to do shit with the other hand that will take away the last few rights you still enjoy.

They were right-armageddon is here-but not in the context of what O is peddling. Try the total destruction of America-while all the sheeple lay back and get it in the backside by paying attention to this farcical bullshit that they are using to deflect your attention to the wrong hand.

The NYT is complicit, as are all the other libtard msm and papers. They are all in on the scam, and they are laughing at the conservatives who take this debt ceiling bullshit seriously. They are laughing in our faces.

If the Right votes this travesty of a deal through, I’m finished with voting and politics for good. I’ve watched the Right lose ground since the eighties and I’ve had enough. There is no question that we will be in absolutely dire financial straits in a short time if this deal is agreed to. Then what will we hear? Who will get blamed? The Right. Stupid, horrible leadership on our side. Too bad there weren’t enough TEA Party people to stop them. Kristi Noem didn’t surprise me at all when she jumped on board but Allen West was a real disappointment.
What has the Right done since November? Capitulated on Obamacare, capitulated on Obama ignoring the War Powers Act, ignored the dozens of Czars, ignored skyrocketing gas/food/clothing prices, capitulated on defunding NPR from the taxpayer, capitulated on even getting us our old light bulbs back.
We have gained nothing – absolutely nothing – from winning in November. We’re on our own now.

I disagree. If 90 years of liberal bullshit would go away in ONE election, I’d be more shocked. I just take this as a sign that we have a LONG way to go, and we’d better get cracking on the 2012 elections, the 2014 elections, and any other election ranging from POTUS to local dogcatcher.

This crap happened because middle America is asleep. I do not intend to let middle America go back to sleep in my lifetime. This travesty of a bill may have been the best of what a feckless Republican Establishment can do — but my intent is to get conservatives in there that have plenty of feck.

Travesty is right. Despite the NYT outrage the debt will be at $17 Trillion by 11/2012. I do not see where anything was solved even in the short-term.

perlcat
Member

Well, *yes* nothing was solved. However, the conclusion — “just give up” is where I don’t agree. Remember when Barry was elected, and they uttered the BS line about the oceans receding, gaia getting cooler, etc.? Neither will the 2010 election have an immediate effect in a sane direction. I fully expect to have to educate public and replace politicians repeatedly until, like Lincoln said about his generals, we will get one that will “fight”.

I just think that this is the wake up call that fixing lib shit won’t be something we can do in one election.

Pay close attention to your state supreme court judges. I think they are a big part of the problems that many states are facing.

This editorial is just a cut and paste job from the last time(s) that the NYT was angered by something the GOP did. Same tired cliches and whining sprinkled with relevant facts of the current outrage.

I think it’s a document template in their journalism software. When they create a new doc, the little paper-clip character appears and asks, “Is this a formal letter? Business Letter? Essay? List? Party-Of-No-Holding-The-Country-Hostage Editorial?”

It will hurt programs for the middle class and poor, and hinder an economic recovery? What recovery are they referring to?
Increase the debt ceiling. Translation: we the ruling elite of the government want to continue in our waste, fraud and abuse of tax dollars we spend to buy votes, buy loyalty, buy power, buy favoritism or to pay back a debt. This nonsense is a result of career politicians that have gotten rich with their so-called public service. Want to balance the budget, decrease the ever-expanding sow called government that creates a parasitic cast of society that comes to depend on governmental services and you have purchased loyal voters for life (generations) perfect example of hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to house illegal’s and this is just one city in one state!

OH THE HORROR!!!!!!

This next year there will be a reduction of spending increases of a mere $22 billion. Or deficit will still go up. Spending will still go up. The $22 billion ‘saved’ will not even cover the increases in our interest payments for FY 2012.

I recommend going long on ammo and canned goods.

jukin

I should ad that the credit line increase of $2.4 trillion will add $52 billion plus in interest payments per year. so we we are now $30 billion more in the hole.

We took it in the pooper on this deal. This was no win for the Tea Party. This is ginned up BS from the Pravda in New York to make it easier for this giant shit sandwich to eat.

No offense, but that video is full of some mistruths. Two trillion in social security to illegal immigrants? That’s false. We don’t even spend two trillion for everyone’s social security. I won’t lie. I stopped watching the video after that. We don’t need spin-driven propaganda to infect our minds and give us false facts.

The NYT is absolutely shameless in their liberal spin. How that rag is considered to be an unbiased source of news is a mystery.
But if they hate it, it must be good for America! A more reliable barometer, I do not know.

I saw some birch on TV today saying that the Tea-Party is a bunch of terrorists for wanting balanced budgets, holding the country hostage and everything.

The media mouth pieces have officially jumped the shark. Our country is doomed. Have fun with it folks, I’m out!
