Newsweek lays groundwork to blame Republicans for future economic woes

by editor on August 4, 2010

Just when we have all gotten used to George Bush being behind all past wrongs in the universe, Newsweek figures out who to blame for future ones: Republicans.

bush-off-the-hook

The happiest man in Crawford, Texas. He's not the one to blame.

In an article discussing “double dippers,” which are defined as “the politicians, economists and analysts who foresee back-to-back recessions,” Newsweek theorizes that “Their warnings could become self-fulfilling prophecies if they frighten enough people into holding tightly onto their wallets. With consumer spending accounting for two-thirds of economic activity, anything that further rattles consumers can undercut recovery hopes.”

So in other words, it’s not the piss poor ineffective financial policies that the Obama administration has shoved down our throats courageously initiated despite public sentiment, it is the scare tactics of people like … wait for it … ”Republicans leaders” who, according to the article, “are keeping up a steady downbeat drumbeat.”

For example, MSNBC quotes House Republican leader John Boehner as saying that Democratic initiatives “have created uncertainty that has undermined our economy, shaken the confidence of the nation and cost millions of American jobs.”

And that’s a bad thing to do. A real bad thing. Because just as criticizing Obama equals racism, criticizing Democrat economic policies now equals a recipe for a double dip recession.

Newsweek said so.

I see that they think repubs can succeed in doing what they tried to do, eventually with, perhaps, some degree of success, during the eight years of Bush’s tenure. Every damn day, while the economy was booming, they attempted to convince us that statistically full employment meant nothing. If an illegal farmworker became seasonally unemployed, the EVEN GREATER DEPRESSION was imminent, likely beginning the next day.Eventually they did get what they wanted. About the time the dims took congress back, things did start to get worse.

This is the strategy of someone that has no solutions to the problems, sees the writing on the wall, but doesn’t want their ideologies to be questioned.

Do these propagandists even realize how irrelevant and pitiful they’ve become?

No they are so unwilling to look past their own beliefs and feelings that they have lost touch with reality.

The funniest thing about that story is talking about people holding too tightly to their wallets. All those overpaid “journalists” don’t quite understand the shape our country and economy are in. People don’t have wallets to hold on to! Any money they have they are spending on necessity, not on discretionary items. So to say that people won’t spend and that will cause further recession is ignorant, and shows just how much of a bunch of morons they are at MSNBC and Newsweek for even talking like that.
We are soon to be in a state of contraction. When that happens, its over-and it is the fault of all these asshole journalists who keep painting a rosy picture of some miraculous recovery. Problem is, that recovery is smoke and mirrors-and all of the US firms who’s stock is getting up off the basement floor are having profit spikes for reasons that have nothing to do with the recession ending. The banks are profiting on the new laws-heavily. Speculation on currency is at an all time high for obvious reasons. Suppliers are profiting a little bit, because the retailers who haven’t ordered in 18 months have run out of surplus and are having to make orders-not huge ones, but big enough to show a small spike in profit.
It doesn’t take a PhD in econ to see what is happening, but then again these retard reporters, and the even more brain damaged politicians have no freaking idea whatsoever what makes the world turn!
I find the whole thing to be just plain sad. And the sheeple are going to say ohhhhh barack obama did good by me, cause my union job is safe, and we have a gun to the head of our employer so we get what we want, and we will have more of the king of retards and more of the retards in congress, and that will be that. And a year from now, we will not be on this site, because barry will deem it bad for business and turn it off! THanks MSNBC and Newsweek! You guys are just marvelous!

So even when it’s a Democrat’s fault, it’s a Republican’s fault? Only in media run by Democrats is logic so twisted.

Great plan. If they only had a way to get many people to read the message. If only…
