Screw free speech! Al Gore is pleased that Reddit is censoring ‘climate deniers.’ Only at Reddit is the science settled and the truth lost.

Al Gore might be the worst political figure in American history, & 1 of the reason is he has no shame about being massive fraudster on so many levels. That & he doesn’t have the decency to exit the stage. He thinks he’s way too important to leave, & that the world needs him. He could not be wrong if he tried.

Manbearpig told the CEO and Board of Directors of Redidiot about all the cash they could be making if they were to help promote his Carbon Credit scheme, and they bit hook, line, and sinker. Now that the word is getting out they are censoring posts, watch them lose people and money. Serves em right.

This one is not exactly mind-boggling. We do have a climate, and the changes four times a year. That is obvious to almost anyone, if that is what he means by climate change we must agree. if that is not what he means by climate change, he’s a blooming idiot.

Climate is decades or longer.. i’ve seen them chunk into 30-year groupings.. Don’t know why 30y keeps coming up

My bet’s selection bias. Your average academic career is 20 to 40 years. Fits with my theory that “climate change” is just bab boomers learning how to bitch about the weather like grandpa did, only with a churched-up name. Just a theory, but since actual climate changes are usually geological in scope, why not?

It’s not a bad thought.. they took a look at a particular segment of their epicycle and freaked

Never gone there and now never will.

I was on compuserve in late 88 with a 300 baud direct phone audio connection and a Kaypro 4…no hard drive but two massive 1.2MB 5 1/4s. Oh and 8 KB of ram. Wish I had saved some of those old disks.

LOL. I remember going from 300 to 600 and thinking, “Wow! Such speed!” Can you imagine trying to download a modern web page at 600 baud? You could go eat dinner while the ads with all their videos downloaded, let alone the actual page.

And I also remember the times I wrote brilliant passionate essays but lost them before uploading because I forgot to turn off call waiting on the damn phone. I don’t miss those days.

My brother was fascinated by the possibilities of computer communication back in the bulletin board days. I was over at his house, and somebody was sending him a picture of some hot babe. I watched it arriving, line by line, pixel by pixel. I asked him who was sending it, he told me.

I got in my truck and drove across town, (granted, it was a small town), had the guy put it on a disk for me, and drove back. It was still loading when I handed my brother the disk.

I’d suggest http://www.reddit.com/r/conservative (the censorship OP refers to is NOT across all Reddit)

reddit’s just a tool.. you can setup pretty much anything you want there. Can’t promise the greater numbers of liberals won’t sail over in a downvoting horde now and then, though

I like that this subreddit has this on the sidebar:

There’s been a lot of simple vilification of right-wing people. It’s really easy to say, ‘Well, you’re Christian, you’re anti-this and that, and I hate you.’ But to me, it’s more interesting to say, ‘What is this person like and how do they really think?’

Ever since I started discussing contentious issues on the Internet, way back in the days before WYSIWYG, huddled over a tiny laptop with no – yes, I said no – hard drive at all, sending and reading text messages at Prodigy, I have noticed that the Internet’s promise and glory is constantly attacked and degraded by the people who desire control and censorship rather than open debate. Reddit, it is so sad to see you committing Internet suicide like this.

i’m skeptical this is across-the-board for the whole site.. perhaps its just a subreddit?

Still significant news, if its a big one like r/science
