Starving the poor to feed Green illusions. “Now that the US is using 40 percent of its [corn] crop to make biofuel, it is not surprising that tortilla prices have doubled in Guatemala, which imports nearly half of its corn…Roughly 50 percent of the nation’s children are chronically malnourished, the fourth-highest rate in the world…” Well, who cares as long as we can feel better about ourselves and castigate anyone who disagrees (not necessarily in that order.)

Another reason the Government is so hot on using corn to make alcohol is because they can tax it 3 times.
Tax the farmer income tax for any profit made from producing the corn.
Tax the company for producing the alcohol.
Tax the fuel produced from the alcohol.
Remember that debate I had with the farmer a while back? He kept insisting that using corn for fuel has no effect on the price of food – a level of ignorance about basic economics I found stunning. I accused him of being on the government dole, which I don’t think he appreciated.
I blame liberal greed!
I blame Al Gore and his religion.
I would give 2 thumbs up for that, if I could! Bravo!
Placing blame where it belongs.
LOL Indeed!
Well, since corn cannot be digested, it’s no wonder those kids are malnourished.
However, since corn is used in most everything we eat, I’m not surprised to see food prices skyrocket, and fuel economy drop, while ruining engines not made for ethanol. I had to throw away my best chainsaw because it was destroyed by ethanol.
It also contributes to the rise in the price of gas. If corn prices rise, so do ethanol prices, thus gas prices.
Feed the corn to cattle. Digest the cattle.
Sounds good to me, particularly the last process of delivery to digest.
Corn should go to humans and animals especially animals that we eat. Corn shouldn’t go for fuel unless people are growing their own corn for fuel themselves privately. It is incredibly stupid to me to subsidize corn farmers with our money so they WASTE that corn on fuel.
There is a gas station here that advertises that they are biofuel free.
No one is castigating anyone . You’re just racists if you disagree .—- She who must not be named ( and her kind )
