UK-Argentine Falklands row reignites. “[The Falklands] true appeal lies in their potential to distract—for both Kirchner and Cameron. Argentine politicians always go for the Falklands when they’re having trouble at home… Meanwhile, Cameron gets to wrap himself in Thatcher’s mantle, flexing his iron muscles by stating his unwavering commitment to the sovereignty of British descendants abroad.” Calling politicians “manipulative weasels” is an insult – to manipulative weasels.

Somebody needs to remind Argentina that, contrary to some beliefs, the British have one of the most lethal military organizations in the world. Any serious military conflict would result in Argentina being humiliated.

Somebody also needs to tell the Argentine President to iron my shirt.

🙂

Do they have resolve? I remember how 14 British sailors were captured early in the Iraq War by the Iranians. They did nothing to reinforce the traditional toughness that Brits were famous for. They were released and given gifts by the Persions, which they kept. Some of the sailors then tried to sell their gifts on EBAY.

I see a good, raucous, slap fight in the future.

The way Argentina and the UK are both going down the tubes, I’d be surprised if anything happened.

Not these days, they lost their bollocks when they lost Lady Thatcher.
