Why are the NFL Talking heads talking about gun control?

Distraction, pure and simple. If they talk about how the eeeeeevil guns are killing people, they don’t look at the brute behind the gun — and even more important, they keep people from typing “football head injury turn violent” into google, and see some 5.1 MILLION hits about what happens to football players after a lifetime of head injuries. Anything to keep that ol’ gravy train rolling along. However, any fool could have seen that head injuries in football are a problem. Case in point: Chris Matthews.

H/T FDH — make sure you read the comments and see “pants” Piers Morgan get schooled. It’s right there next to the word “muskets”.

Why are the NFL Talking heads talking about gun control?

Same reason your kids’ teachers are telling them who to have sex with.

I would love to live in a world where I am promised that I will never be raped, molested, murdered or robbed. I would love to live in a world where I don’t have to fear the government. Take away our weapons then only criminals and the military/government will have weapons. I don’t like that world, I don’t like it at all.

No, have to take FIL to the Dr for labs, then taking him with me to work. He is wandering again. We had to call the police last night and 2 Fridays ago to help find him.
I’ll tell you more in a bit.

Have them check his thyroid. My step-father was mis-diagnosed by 4 or 5 doctors before we found one who picked up on the real problem. The other’s were telling us he had Alzheimer’s. We didn’t believe it because he was fine one day, then wacky the next. Alzheimer’s doesn’t happen overnight, so we pushed and bingo. It did mimic a lot of the symptoms though.

🙂 hi there robert

I was listening to Schnitt Monday afternoon, and he had a caller from Tampa that claimed to know Belcher intimately, because Belcher used to bully his kid when he went to High School on Long Island.
The man claimed that he had to move his family to Tampa to get his son away from Belcher and his gang of thugs before his son was killed.
There was apparantly a news story on a local TV news station on Long Island (TV-12) about this. I wonder why none of this info has made it to the MSM?

i did a google image search on belcher.

poppajoe49

And? I did a google search on Belcher attacked, Belcher stole, Belcher high school, and nothing came up about his teen years except that his school coach was shocked.

poppa,

Those might be the reasons he ended up playing college football at the Univ. of Maine & not at a major conference school with a national television TV deal. He was a good player, & made it to the NFL. He may have been too much trouble to be recruited at many big time programs, & thus ended up in Orono, Maine.

RobertW

danny, you may be right, as it’s easier to cover up punching a hole in the wall above a (live in?) gf, or rather, fornication partner, in a small town, than in the bigs.

flashingscotsman
Member

Too many people covering for these overpaid asshats, on their knees fawning over them because they can catch, throw, kick a ball, or hit it with a stick. Reality is not an option for many of them.

danybhoy
Member

But that is what happens sometimes to kids who are nationally ranked by scouting services in junior high for these sports. I really don’t want to hear about the #7 rated 13 year old basketball player in the nation who should be more worried about a book report due next Wednesday rather then media coverage & having that go to his head.

Lets see how the Cowboys handle their latest screw up. Ond of the plaers gets drunk, drives, flips his car and kills one of his teammates. He’s been arrested for omyoxication manslaughter. His lawyer is already bitching about hisbail. Thinks its unreasonably high.

If you’re still awake, I saw half a million bond. If it was me it’d be 5 thousand tops. Racist?

Love you Rose, hope you’re doing as well as can be expected. (actually, better than that, but you know what I mean)

flashingscotsman

If society would quite treating these people as if they’re special because they can throw a ball, or hit it with a stick of some sort, that would go a long way towards helping them get over their illusions. If you enjoy tossing a ball, fine. Do it after your shift at McDonalds.

Don’t GET me started on the asshats that get paid millions to sit in a studio and talk about them.

poppajoe49

Actually, I fell asleep in the recliner with the laptop, woke up, and decided to check in for a couple of minutes.

GhostntheMachine

And you’re awake, why? Lmao poppa. I have an excuse, and the survey says… Hope all is well PJ

Exactly Rose, bail is based on financials, flight risk, and severity of the charges.

U’m mumbling along. This is why I hate getting any little bug passing through. It takes me forever to get over it. But making progress.
As far a the cowboy, he has proven a lack of respect or willingness to gollow the law by drining drunk. He has enormous financial resources and he owns a passport. He is absolutely a flight risk. Half a million sound fair to low.

my point was that it’s obvious by looking at the pix of him why msm hasn’t brought up his past, just like they don’t bring up trayvon’s past, well, that’s not entirely true, trayvon could be barry’s son, if barry had ever actually fathered any children. whereas belcher’s to physically different that barry could never seriously pass him off as his son.

point being, msm won’t look into his past because he’s African-American, ergo, exempt from background checks.

(edit) and no, i had no idea who belcher was beyond being a murder suspect, think maybe i heard he suicided too, but I can’t be for sure about THAT because frankly, there’s more important issues, to my mind, confronting this nation, than some overpaid jock (redundant i know) and his social life.

Jovan Belcher graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in child development and family relations. Talk about not learning from your major. Did he think about how his three month old daughter will develop being raised by her grandmother? Liberals war against the family causing angry fatherlessness that leads to alcohol, drugs, promiscuity and often tragic violence. But all they want to talk about is the gun and none of the miserable underpinning that leads to its tragic, evil use.

danybhoy

That’s something that has NOT gotten enough play in this story.

That’s something that has NOT gotten enough play in this story.

Man, woman, child/ren.

in my worldview, the hierarchy is: God, husband, wife, children.

and no room for fakes. (for the scoffers: adoptees and fostered children aren’t fakes for the simple reason that they are legally, emotionally and most importantly spiritually, attended and maintained.)

RobertW

either way. both are unnatural and also dangerous. imho, they’re merely tools of deception, insofar as the ends of these drugs is nothing less than false enhancement (you’ll agree even some women attempt deception as well.)

I think, as oppose to believe, that deceptions (whatever the guise they carry) are naught but spawn of the father of lies.

glad to see you back, Rose. 🙂

sa_rose

Thanks Robert. The entire country is obsessed with the trivial. All that “enhancement” from surgery to drugs interferes with some OTHER body system. Boobs are for food. Once they are enhanced, they look stupid and are nonfunctional. Men take steroids to look ripped, but ther peepees shrink into nothingness. For all the advertsing, there is no substance to back it up.

ooddballz

I got my body (for better or worse) the good ol’ fashion way. Busting my butt 10, 12 and sometimes 16 hours a day.
BUT, my peepee is just fine, thank you very much.

flashingscotsman

Maybe the false enhancement on the part of so many women is why their guys need the false enhancement?

Many athletes on every level have never heard NO and when they do hear it, they can not deal with it. Jacksman is right no father figure to jerk his ass back in line when he started showing the traits of an abuser. Of the NFL talking heads, they have no clue as they have lived the sheltered life and have their body guards right there with them.

All of them are trying to blame access to a gun, OJ Simpson didn’t use a gun, he used a knife, others have used ball bats, claw hammers, a tire iron and the most disturbing of all was a toilette plunger. So, if someone wishes to kill someone, access to a gun has nothing to do with it.

jacksman

Maybe his repeated abuse of woman and lack of impulse control come from a man who never had a father figure in his life? Never told no. Cause mommy wanted to make it better.

It’s all about restricting rights with these commircrats, never blame the brain damaged, steroid infused thug with the crime, blame the tool he used to commit it.

sa_rose

An never blame the greed and narcissism that drives the entire system. Most of the sports figures negotiate for multimillion dollar contracts and are dead broke with weeks of their last game, whether from injury, age or a loss the skill that got them there in the first place.

KKK started out as a gun control outfit set up to take guns away from freed slaves so they couldn’t defend themselves. Therefore gun control advocates are RACISTS, real racists.
Second, if there were no guns, it’s not like the brute could have used, I don’t know, his HANDS on his 85 lb girlfriend…
I also didn’t hear about bow and arrow control after the Casper, Wy murders….

Beyond the gun control aspect, I’m turned off by all the sympathy for this thug who killed his girlfriend in front of his mother and daughter after spending the night with another woman. Sure, I understand the tragedy of a human spirit surrendering to evil, but in the final analysis that’s what this was, a surrender to evil by his choice. He deserves no sympathy.

As for the head injury business, I thought the team said he hasn’t had any concussions. Are you sure the head injury crap isn’t just an excuse to turn a thug into a victim?

GhostntheMachine
Member

I know concussions in the NFL is a serious issue taken by itself, but in a big picture kind of way my bitch is why do we never hear about hockey players going postal because of it?

poppajoe49
Member

Because hockey players are too brain damaged to pull a trigger?

danybhoy
Member

Don’t kid yourself, I am a lifelong hockey fan, & there are more then a few tragic stories involving hockey players, head injuries, painkillers, & the pressures of needing to be tough enough to play in pain even when you should’nt. Suicides & drug related deaths involving painkillers do happen in hockey. Plus head injuries have been as big an issue in the NHL as it has been in the NFL. Same issue & culture, different sports.

GhostntheMachine
Member

I wasn’t being flip, thought about it after reading that, I think it’s because there’s no NHL team anywhere near here so I don’t get the news unless I happen to catch it on ESPN. Thanks for the bodycheck into the boards to clear up my thinking. 😉

danybhoy
Member

Sorry if I came off harshly, & thanks for NOT taking real offence. But I’m a Minnesota guy, we grow up with hockey, it’s a big deal here, & as much as I love it, there is a very dark side involving painkillers used for injuries, head injuries & the longterm effects, & the off the ice trouble that can happen. Many only see hockey on ESPN, esspecially in non traditional hockey areas. The only reason you hear more about the troubles with football players way more then hockey is the profile of the sports is different, as well as the family backrounds & the cultures in which they come from.

RobertW

cuz they use sticks stead of guns?

There appears to be brain injuries in the press box too. How about free brain scans for Costas and friends? Bumping into those overhead lights and makeup mirrors can really do some damage….

danybhoy
Member

Costas will be on with O’Reilly TONIGHT(Wed), & he’s should be able to explain himself. It’s Jason Whitlock I have questions about…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGZlpJli8qs

…I have heard Whitlock on a number of times over the years, & he came across as a bright guy with well thought out opinions. I guess I was wrong, & now he seems to not want to explain his comments to Roland Martin. The fact that Whitlock fellt comfortable enough with Martin to say what he said says volumes about his true values as a person. So Jason, you effed up, & you can & will be dismissed in the future. God Bless & have a nice life.

flashingscotsman

If it’s to distract people from the injuries sustained playing football, think how well this might work for boxing announcers. No permanent brain injuries there, huh?

I’ll never watch another football game again. But then again, that will just be a continuance of my life-long pattern.

Sidekick
Member

That’s part of it. The other is that there are a lot of eyeballs on those football games; therefore, the broadcasts become a vehicle for disseminating propaganda to a large audience. I have watched my last NBC Sunday night game. I don’t care who is playing. I’m only surprised that it has taken this long to do this kind of thing during highly rated sports events. Imagine the crap they can sling during the Superbowl if they choose.

poppajoe49

I’ll still watch SNF, when my team plays, but I’ll continue to do as I have always done, change the channel during halftime.
