Look, knobheads. Here is a link to the Archdiocese of the Antiochian Orthodox Church in North America. It is a Church with historical roots in the Middle East, and is Arabic speaking. Call up a priest and ask him what the Arabic word for God is. I mean, if you’re really interested in an answer. It’s really very simple, and I’m disgusted by and ashamed of the ignorance I see here sometimes.

Here’s another option, a parish finder for Melkite churches. Melkites are also an Arabic speaking church, but they are in communion with Rome, rather than Byzantium. Call and ask. Ask an actual Christian Arab what the Arabic word for God is. Or STFU and GTFO.

I tried to be accurate PD! I have always understood ALLAH to be like Jehovah, or El. I a sooooo sorry if I offended you or anything in your understanding or experience of God. I would never intentionally do that! 🙁

Like Damascus and steel, Antioch also much revered for its crafting of the Holy Hand Grenade

“Islam does not recognize the resort to force – for this there are authorities and courts,” he said.

Someone said that with a straight face?

But they want to rule the authorities and courts, too.

There is something to be said about a people that reveres a sexual pervert and social deviant like ‘ol mohammad. Of course that “something” isn’t anything good…

“Allah” is the Arabic name for “God.” It is related etymylogically to the Hebrew “El” and the Aramaic “Eli,” which Jesus spoke on the cross. It is used by Arabic-speakers of different faiths, including Christian, such the Maronites and Melkites, non-Roman churches which are in communion with Rome and the Roman Patriarch, and the Antiochian Orthodox Church (to which latter I adhere), an Eastern Church in communion with the Byzantine Patriarch. The Arabic name “Allah” is also used by other Arabic-speaking “Oriental” Churches, such as the Copts and Syriac Orthodox.

Despite what the Mohammedans and other ignorants would have you believe, “Allah” is not the trademark property of Mecca.

I don’t think it is the word for god. Otherwise their shahada would go like this: There is no allah but allah, and mo is his…….
But, they say: There is no god but allah…
So allah is the name of their moon god.

A god (small g) is anything or person worshipped as such. Money is god for some. God (Big G) refers to a deity. The judeoChrisitan God has no name. He is reported to have told Moses “I am who I am.” El is a word roughly translating to “I am.” Allah, as Dad has so beautifully explaned. is an Arabic word for roughtly the same thing. When Mohammed claimed to be the last prophet of Allah, he was referring to the one true God (in a culture of multiple gods), the same God as Judeo Christians believe. Mohammed is the breakdown. NOTHING he puports to have learned from GOd is in line with thousands of years of JudeoChristian understanding or experience of GOD. Allah is NOT a separate moon god. If you want to get a handle on their true belief, gt the facts.

Not one person addressed my question. No one even tried.
I DO know the facts.
Allah was one of the 360 deity’s in the kaaba before mo got control of things. It was also the favorite god of his dad.
Mo just decided to accept his dads assertion that allah was the true god.

Allah” comes from the Arabic word “elah”a god’ or something worshiped” http://www.godallah.com/

Allah (English pronunciation: /ˈælə/ or /ˈɑːlə/; Arabic: الله‎ Allāh, IPA: [ʔɑlˈlɑː] ( listen), [ʔalˤˈlˤɑː]) is a word for God used mainly in the context of Islam.[1] In Arabic, the word means simply “the God”.[2][3][4] It is used primarily by Muslims, and often, albeit not exclusively, used by Bahá’ís, Arabic-speaking Eastern Catholic Christians, Maltese Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Christians, Mizrahi Jews and Sikhs.[5][6][7] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allah

Al·lah   /ˈælə, ˈɑlə/ Show Spelled[al-uh, ah-luh] Show IPA
noun Islam .
the Supreme Being; God. http://dictionary.reference.com

Answered repeatedly and again with citations.

Dang it! Do I haveta show it to you in arabic?
There is no god but allah: لا إله إلا الله
Now.
There is no allah but allah: ليس هناك الله لكن الله
Hellooooo! Anybody see a difference here?
How about the ‘arabic’ word ‘elah’ ?…Which is a spanish word by the bye:
الإله
Where allah looks like: الله
I think that the wikipedia def is written to make the word allah more acceptible to western civilization. I would never put full trust in wikipedia.

Also, sa_rose, Why is the symbol for islam, which is all over mosques and and other islamic edifices, A CRESCENT MOON?
Allah is the moon god of the ancient kaaba.

Is it fair to state that even though the word is for God per se, Muslims in essence are not necessarily worshipping the same G-d of the Jews and Christians?

Sa_Rose: Mohammed said A LOT OF THINGS, however, most of what he said AND did was gross and evil. He CAN say that he and muslims worship the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, however, I truly refuse to believe that the same G-d that I worship is the same god that Momo (et al) worshipped. So I think in my opinion, that it is fair to state that even if allah is their word for G-d, they are in essence not worshipping the same G-d at all. I agree that Momo went ahead and picked and choose in order to give his taste for power and control legitimacy.

No. According to Mohammed, Muslims, Jews and Christians are all people of the book, the Old Testament. However Muslims believe Jesus as a prophet, not the Incarnate God. And they believe that Mohammed was God’s last great prophet, so his teachings supercede all others. Mainly Islam is a made up religion, pulling from Middle Eastern religions and traditions to justify the beliefs and opinions of one man. Mohammed. Most of his teaching is counter to that of Jews and Christians alike.

What has always interested me is that Islam seems to have been started by a supposed angel of light, instead of G-d Himself (like He did with Judaism and, in essence, Christianity). I have found that bizarre.

I’m sorry sir, but you are wrong. When I go to church I hear the name Allah frequently, along with the Arabic words for “Father” “Son,” and “Holy Spirit.”

Arabic was a Christian language long before Mohammed (piss be upon him) ever drew breath.

His Eminence Metropolitan Philip Celebrates Palm Sunday with St. George Community

“This annual visit from Metropolitan Philip is an event that the parish has cherished year after year, and it looks forward to celebrating Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem with His Eminence again next year, Insha’Allah!” (“God Willing!”)

Well, explain why they say: there is no god but allah….
and not: There is no allah but allah…
and if you hear that allah stuff in church it is because the church is trying to make Christianity more palpable to muslims so that they will convert quicker.
the Catholics did that with the man Jesuses earthly mother, and their adapting prayer to a bunch of saints…….
All to make the then present society accept catholicism all the quicker.
And you should NOT hear the word allah in a CHRISTIAN church. If you do, the theology is wrong.

It must be nice to have no job that you can afford to stake out someone at their home to beat them up just because they think the supposed prophet mohammed was not into this for the love of a benign deity and probably had as sexual problem (both things are true). Seriously the amount of time and money I would loose to stake out people in order to beat them up everytime they say something negative about Christ I would have to be married to a rich man or something.
