  • So SAD, I expect better from IHTM.

Masks do not work by protecting you from anything.

Masks work by containing the spittum and moisture that a person, who unknowingly has the virus and is spreading the infection, puts out. No airborne virus to infect others!

Even a cloth bandana is better than nothing and fairly effective at catching your moisture and spit.

The very image you choose to use means you are still clueless as to why masks must be worn. Masks and a little social distancing are all we need do.

A billion Asians are probably onto something when they all mask up. You are protecting others, they are protecting others, We get an artificial herd immunity with masks.

Because you wear a mask to protect others from you,and not you from others , (as your chart is about), it confuses some of us and we do not see the reason.

If masks were not effective at containing the germs and virus coming from the wearer , surgeries would create way more infections and deaths.

The ONLY thing that we should ever have to do,even in a worse case scenario. is to mask up, and continue on, no blatant violations of our Liberties and rights!

    • "A billion Asians are probably onto something when they all mask up."

You mean the Asia where the Wuhan virus started? And the Hong Kong flu that was even worse? And SARS, and the Swine Flu, and every other respiratory pandemic for the last fifty years? Doesn't sound like they have a clue about anything to me.

"Because you wear a mask to protect others from you,and not you from others..."

We all know that here. It's the virtue-signaling mask-wearing liberals who don't understand it. And the fact is, the droplet containment only works in a clinical situation. There is not one shred of evidence that masks are a good idea for the general public. NOT A SHRED. Whereas the harmful effects are well documented, to the point where those surgeons who operate on you in the hospital are taught the dangers of long-term mask wearing and are constantly fighting the headaches and lung problems that come with it. Because you know what happens to those droplets that collect in the mask? You either inhale them in concentrated form, or you get itchy, touch your mask and get them all over your fingers, and then touch someone or something else and leave a concentrated dose of whatever pathogens you had collected in your mask for your neighbor to infect himself with. Duh.

Look around. Watch how often those virtue-signaling morons are touching, readjusting, and "temporarily removing" their idiotic masks.

  • This whole thing has been a cluster. One gigantic power grab and it’s obvious what has been done.

  • You got a source for that pic? 'Cause I doubt very much that the top row is anywhere near that effective.

I started a discussion on Facebook that riled up some family members. All I did was post an expert's column about the utter lack of scientific evidence for the wearing of masks by the public. Good grief, it was like I farted in peoples' elevators. I am about to bore a lot of people so stop reading now if you don't want to risk it.

Our biological scientists are for the most part all operating under two incorrect paradigms, which hampers their ability to grasp what is actually happening with the human body when it is under attack by pathogens. The first incorrect paradigm is Darwinism which, although nobody in academia or the media wants to admit, has been completely disproven. We have never seen speciation by survival of the fittest and we never will. Our DNA is only a fraction of the encoded information necessary for a successfully functioning organism.

But the incorrect paradigm in play now, during this scamdemic, is the notion that our human bodies can be isolated from and protected from bacteria and viruses. Medical people too often look at the human body as some DNA-created structure which protects itself from "bugs" until something goes wrong, when they, the medical people, need to step in and help the body out by killing those bugs. This is totally false. We are more accurately a big scaffold created by human DNA to hold together a collection of bacteria and viruses. The numbers: there are more bacteria cells in a human body than human cells. This does not include viruses, fungi, and archaea. Add those in and there are probably more than 10 times as many "bugs" as human cells. But wait, it's worse than that. 84% of those human cells are red blood cells, so the VARIETY of bug cells is in even greater disproportion. But you object, saying the DNA that makes you function is human, so you are human, not scaffold. Au contraire, mon frere: they did an accounting of the DNA necessary for the human body to function and guess what: the DNA necessary for proper functioning of the human body comes 300 to 400 times more from bacteria than from human DNA. And that isn't even counting what's necessary from viruses which we don't really understand at all yet.

So you cannot protect yourself from bugs. You are bugs. The reason why a coronavirus in some rare cases turns into a killer pathogen but in most cases slides harmlessly into the biological system that makes a human, is mysterious and has little to do with the bug itself. So trying to isolate yourself from something so small that it can slide through any mask you can make for yourself, and literally, with its various cousins, permeates the environment in which you live, is just. plain. silly. It's like jumping into a big saucepan of tomato soup and trying not to touch a tomato molecule.
