Angela Merkel urges company chiefs to hire more refugees to reduce the number relying on German state handouts. This is how her brain doesn’t work. If you hire reduce the number of refugees on welfare then you’ll increase the number of Germans going on welfare. She’s either that stupid or that evil.

No, jobs are not a zero sum game. If you hire one guy, it does not necessarily mean someone else loses a job. But at the same time, it's not like hiring is done for the sake of hiring. She apparently thinks, as do all liberals, that companies make jobs as a public service - basically like the gov't. The gov't makes jobs without much regard for what is being produced, does it need to be produced, is there a demand for that service, etc. She thinks there is an endless well of money that the company dips into to pay employees, and of course, they prefer to keep that pay low so they can keep more of that money from the well for themselves.
There is no connection made between jobs and basic economic principles of supply and demand, production and the value thereof, and exchange of money for services.

People on the left look at jobs as alternative welfare programs, rather than means to production.
I think at this point Merkel is just looking at the native Germans and wondering, "Oh, are you still here?"
