Apple has limited filesharing features on iPhones in China, a month after reports that anti-government protesters were using the function to share digital leaflets with strangers.
The change follows widespread reports of people using AirDrop to spread leaflets critical of the Chinese Communist party in crowded public spaces, partly inspired by a protest in Beijing in which a man hung banners calling for the removal of the president, Xi Jinping.
Chinese censors quickly scrubbed online videos and posts referring to the protest, while hundreds of users on the popular payment and chat app WeChat had their accounts blocked after speaking about the rare act of rebellion.
Apple declined AFP’s request for comment but the company is now understood to be planning a rollout of the feature across the globe.

I was asking for the iPhone 14 for the holidays and now I don't know what to do, Google is just as bad, maybe worse, than Apple.

The people running Big Tech are, across the board, the biggest cowards, most unprincipled villains, and greatest danger to freedom and liberty this world has ever seen. They are also the stupidest super rich the world has ever seen, outstripping in terms of sheer ignorance some of the worst kings and queens of the Middle Ages. I don't know what the answer is. When people like Carnegie were the super rich, at least they were productive elites, adding something of value to society. And at least they believed in the basic principles of democracy and individual liberty. These current yahoos are worse than useless, they are dangerous to society and civilization, and they seem to have no principles other than wrong ones.
The sad truth is throughout history it has been the elites of society who have perpetuated the worst crimes against humanity, particularly the 20th century to now.
