California Gov. Signs Law to Address Muslim, Sikh, South Asian American Bullying: More special privileges for special citizens. Anyone care to guess how long it will be until bringing a ham sandwich for lunch is considered a hate crime?

  • The Sikhs out here do get it. Morons mistake them for Muslims all the time. Complete waste of hate.

    • I've come across one Sikh, and I hate to sound like a cliche but he was the nicest guy in the world.

      • I used to live in a town with a fairly substantial Sikh population. All nice people. The only time I remember any problems was when the local Gurdwara had two factions fighting for control and some shots were fired.

      • I used to live in a small town with a Sikh-owned motel up the street. The family had an old grandfather living with them and his daily walk would take him past my house. Nicest guy in the world, with his turban, big mustache, traditional Sikh garb, and kirpan on his belt. They wear that little sword (or big knife, however you want to view it) because it's a religious requirement. The point being, it's hard to "bully" a Sikh because they're always armed and their religion requires them to defend themselves and anybody else who is wrongfully oppressed. Which is why I don't think the Sikhs had anything to do with this legislation. A Sikh would rather die defending himself than complain about bullying.

        • Every year Stockton (which has a large Sikh community) has a Sikh parade. Cops loved to volunteer for it because you were treated like family. the food was incredible and they are just nice people, and as a plus, they are sworn enemies of Muslims...a win/win.

          • We went to an event in Stockton, and got to watch a demonstration of traditional Sikh dance, which is a combination of dance and swordplay. It was really interesting to watch.

            There's a pretty healthy Sikh community here in Beggersfield, too. I have no problem at all with them. They're good people to have around. And I do try to educate the dummies that think a guy in a turban is Muslim.

  • "[This bill] is very important to Muslim and Sikh children because both of our communities have seen a huge rise in the bullying of Muslim and perceived to be Muslim students," Saad Sweilem, civil rights attorney at CAIR-Sacramento Valley (CAIR-SV), told NBC News.

    You notice that it was a Muslim, from CAIR, who is acting as a spokesman. I'm guessing this legislation was entirely the product of Muslim bellyaching, whining, and lobbying. That's what Muslims do. And I'm guessing the Sikhs couldn't have cared less about people trying to bully them.

    • The Reactionary Muslim's will be bullying the Sikhs, if they aren't already, once they get done dictating how all the rest of us live our lives.
