So I looked up the stats for Martinique and they hit their COVID peak back in August, with cases and deaths declining ever since. They have no real crisis at the current time. I'm guessing what happened is the French panicked about the new Omicron farce and clamped down on themselves, clamping down on their colonial territories like Martinique at the same time. I don't blame the islanders for being upset. Down there in the sun and open air, you'd have to try pretty hard to die from COVID.
