I didn't know Mrs. Trump was a polyglot, it doesn't matter. She speaks English excellently well. She has a thick accent that she will never be rid of. That is NORMAL, but has NOTHING to do with her ability to speak the language. So Handler is berating her thick accent that is normal for her to have as an immigrant from a non-English speaking country. That makes Handler a bigot and a xenophobe. Imagine if she was a Republican or a Libertarian or an Independent person or a Conservative or a Christian or Jew? The media would crucify her (and she should be regardless).
As I've said before, it is exciting to me to share even so little in common with the First Lady and to have an immigrant First Lady is very cool to me. I can understand her situation as an immigrant, but her situation as an immigrant in her particular circumstances HAS to be incredibly difficult and it is truly unique here (there has only been one other immigrant First Lady in this country, not so unusual in other continents however). I know what is like to be in new situations with new people and having to ensure that I speak clearly in order to be understood, because I know that my accent CAN take some getting used to. I know what is like for ignorant people to say something stupid about my accent and there are well meaning people that do so as well, but I can forgive them more readily for I know they mean no malice... but it still hurts the ego, when I know I am trying my best to communicate effectively and people are so caught up in the accent, that they don't actually clear their thoughts on it, and focus to listen to what I have to say.
The other thing is that EVERYONE has accents. People may not hear it, but I do. People from certain parts of the country sound completely different to me than others from another party of the same country. Not just in the US but other countries as well. I focus on what people are saying, not on the accent and I do just fine, people just need to learn how to do that. Well those are the people willing to be civil and Handler can't nor won't be able to be civil. Her attitude is elitist and ignorant.
Last thing, what makes her think that the First Lady would even CONSIDER going on her show even if invited on the first place? It is like the stupid designers that were never called to help her in the first place pre-snubbing her. It is ridiculous and so full of themselves.
Truly lastly... way to stand up for a fellow female person there Handler. Women who don't toe the line are NOT real women, just like Blacks aren't really Blacks if they don't toe the line either. Pathetic way of looking at life.

I think she wanted to get that out there, as an excuse as to why she never interviewed Melania. When the real reason, of course, is that Melania would never agree to the interview. If this interview WERE to ever happen, Handler would be politely ground into the dirt by a classy lady that knows more languages, and more in general, that Handler will ever know.

This is why I don't make fun of high end models. They usually speak 4 or 5 languages because they have to. I only know English.
