So Trump says today he "doesn't want" Ted's endorsement and wouldn't accept it if he tried to give it. Okay. So what has all the fuss been about the past three days, then?

And why did he send people into the crowd to get them booing? And why did Trump spend the whole morning talking about Cruz? Has he forgotten who his opponent is?
Donald Trump is a vindictive little shit, plain and simple. Did you see he's suing his "Art of the Deal" ghost writer? The guy came out and said he thinks Trump will make a horrible president and Trump sent him a letter threatening him with a lawsuit. The guy responded by saying, basically, "Sue away, asshole, I didn't give up my right to an opinion when I wrote your book for you."
Meanwhile, what happened to all those so-called conservatives who made fun of Obama when it turned out someone else wrote his books? Now we learn Trump was too stupid to write a book, too, and it's not funny anymore?

As a Christian he should forgive Trump, regardless of him apologizing or not. What he said at the speech was fine, but his butt-hurt posture afterwards was childish for a man that wants to be our President. With that said, he should have honored the pledge if he wants to be seen as a promise keeper. If he felt the promise had to be broken humility and grace would have been better.
But he is not a christian, that is just another lie.

What did Cruz promise? To "endorse"? The only promise Politifact could find was the South Carolina one: "I hereby affirm that I generally believe in and intend to support the nominees [notice that it is plural referring to all the various nominees of the Republican Party, not just the presidential nominee] and platform of the Republican Party in the November 8, 2016, general election." That pledge says nothing about using the word "endorse." He provided support by congratulating Trump at the national convention and giving a speech at the convention and giving two other speeches before and after the convention, and by telling people to vote for Republican candidates up and down the ticket. Now people want to quibble about how MUCH support Cruz is required to give Trump. Maybe Trump should have thought about that before he called Cruz a liar twenty times a day, his wife ugly, and his father a communist assassin. A pledge goes both ways. When I pledge allegiance to my country, that allegiance isn't enforceable against my honor no matter what my country does to me. If my country becomes a socialist tyranny, my allegiance is forfeited.
Bret messed up and said support instead of endorse, but he meant endorse since he alluded to the RNC pledge, which DID stated endorse in the pledge. Cruz is smart, he reviewed the video, but he cannot get away from the signed RNC pledge... again being the basis for the question in the debate.

They all signed the RNC pledge. As stated in the video.
“I [name] affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for president of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is,” the pledge reads. “I further pledge that I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek or accept the nomination for president of any other party.”

Now like I stated, what he had to say is fine, it was his stance afterward that gave him a bad look.
Truth be told, his and everyone else's stand were shaky whenever things didn't go their way which means they all stanky. This supported by the Politifact article. They are all shifty. However it makes Cruz look really bad due his professed philosophies.

None of them denied signing the pledge in the video. So to answer your question: He pledged to endorse, the he acted like any other shifty politician. He could have been a paragon of grace and poise, instead ended up looking like any politician. He congratulated Trump, but offered no words of support nor uplifting advise.

"Support" is the word used in the debate and Politifact says there is no evidence that anyone other than Trump ever signed the RNC loyalty pledge where the word "endorse" was used. It was designed for Trump remember, because he kept threatening to run as an independent, and when Trump said he would run as an independent anyway, even after signing the pledge, if he wasn't treated fairly, the loyalty pledge became irrelevant. The guy reverses himself withing hours almost every time he makes a statement, so I think the signed loyalty pledge was reversed before any of the other guys even got a chance to sign it.
But whether Cruz ever promised to endorse is itself irrelevant, like I said, because once Trump turned it into a campaign of insults against wives and family, and once Trump's main campaign theme became calling Cruz "Lyin' Ted," he gave up his right to an endorsement. Trump doesn't get a blank check on everybody else's honor.
This is a problem with pro and anti Trump people, with Trump and the rest of former candidates: emotion taking over objectivity.
This is why I hate what this cycle has done: People's reaction to Trump (pro and anti) has been insane. All candidates are hypocrites. I wish he hadn't run, but I acknowledge his right to run. I wish people's reactions wouldn't have been so negative and unnecessarily divisive. It also shown people that had promise in the worst light. I have no respect for Kasich. He didn't have to endorse, but he could have graciously welcomed people to his state and thank people for participating in the process.
The article was objective. The point is there is evidence of the pledge to endorse AND support: RNC stated they did sign it and none denied signing it on television, that they choose not to honor it speaks to their character, but in the end how it matters is up to voters. They all are shifty. It is up to people to decide how that plays in their future, since it was only binding to Constituents. It doesn't absolve anyone. Everyone looks bad, but it is up to people to decide who looks less so.
Now people can agree or disagree with the minutiae, like not believing the pledge mattered, or what actually constitutes as "support". That is a personal debate that we should be free to have without us going at each other's throats. It leaves me and others with a bad taste, depending on individual beliefs. Others are ok with it. It is what it is.
Well said, I have no qualms with Cruz's speech or lack of endorsement. Trump was very ugly to him and his family.

I think he was as gracious as a person can be whose main goal was saving the country.
But he didn't rock the boat. He congratulated Trump, he told people to vote in November, he reiterated the principles that the Republican Party--and therefore Trump--supposedly stand for, told people to vote their conscience, and then he sat down. If Trump hadn't sent agents into the crowd to get people to boo, there would have been no controversy whatsoever.
And there is no "might" about this. Remember, Trump and the RNC saw the speech before he gave it so if there was something about it they didn't like they could have stopped him from speaking.
I'm afraid that Trump will act like a spoiled brat, and continue to throw a tantrum whenever he doesn't get his way. The booing incident is proof of his tantrums, and Paul Manafort is no better.

My conscience tells me to vote against Hillary by voting for Trump. I don't like Trump as a candidate. I feel he is mean spirited and crooked, but Hillary is pure evil and broken beyond repair. Less of two evils, again.
If not voting for Trump is a virtual vote for Hillary then I will just opt to not vote for Hillary which means I will be virtually voting for Trump. Win/Win.

Okay, and I'm fine with that. You're looking at the candidates and making what you think is the right choice. Other people with similar political beliefs are looking at the same situation and saying they will vote LIbertarian, others that they will not vote for any presidential candidate at all.
I know I'll vote, because my congressman is the House's version of Ted Cruz so I have to get in there and vote for him at least. Last time the poor guy had the Chamber of Commerce, the RNC, and all the rich people in West Michigan lined up against him and he won anyway. He was the first guy Boehner fired from his committee assignments, that's how much the establishment hates him. They even tried to imply he was some kind of Middle Eastern Muslim because he's Palestinian, but the fact is he comes from a family of Maronite Catholics who had to leave the ME a couple generations ago to get away from the violence, so you won't find anybody more realistic and aware of the danger of Islam.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure I'll skip the presidential vote, but I have to make sure the ballot won't be rejected if I do that. If I have doubts about that issue, maybe I'll vote Libertarian--those are a couple of establishment losers, too, but...
