Ummm, so exactly what seed is going to survive being blasted out of a gun? How long will the protective biodegradable casing take to disentegrate ? MOST importantly, how much more will this assenine project cost WE THE TAXPAYERS? SMB(londe)H.
If this story is legitimate, my guess of their true intention would be:
1 - Short shelf-life of civilian ammo
2 - Block civilians from re-loading their used casings (you know they would be one-time use)
In War-torn countries, I bet the poor civilians are glad to collect the spent brass to scrap for a bit of money.
I would guess that only a tiny bit of brass is left on the ground in the US and then only because the shooter couldn't find the shell casing in all of the DENSE PLANT LIFE.
Besides, what kind of plant seeds are going to germinate and grow in aired desert conditions where new plants would actually be of benefit?
And are they going to have different bullets for each place on the planet so there will be no "invasive species" problems?
My understanding of this project is to replace training ammo, not the stuff we use to kill indigenous peoples in foreign lands. They want to prevent creating a toxic environment at gun ranges on our own bases in the US. The invasive species bullet seed then becomes a potential cash cow when applied on US soil.
I imagine there would have to be billions spent on environmental studies and experimentation to determine which seed to use on a base by base, range by range basis. Once we've allowed environmentalists on our bases, they will immediately determine that the gun ranges are toxic sites and push for base closure and superfund waste clean up money. Its a three fer in favor of the left. They get to close military bases, get government funding for environmental research and create super slush funds for environmental clean up. Just like all the green tech slush funds under obama, guess where all that cash will eventually wind up? They (democrats) aren't in control and can't steal directly from the tax payer any more. Thus they are in need of being more creative while the republicans control the purse strings. Or am I being paranoid here?

The only Green Ammo I use is "Green" tip, which explodes on contact. Thats the only green the military needs to worry about.
