Not a bad thing per se, maybe allows some smaller gun stores in areas to shine. Gladly there are no "huge" chains nearby so I'm kinda forced to shop at all the small-ish stores in the area. Recently got my hands on M4 rifel from https://gritrsports.com/shooting/firearms/rifles/m4-rifles/
Maybe I overpaid couple o' bucks by not buying from major chain, but hey, it is what it is
WSJ reports they're changing the store name in a major re-branding effort. New name? Cox.
Doctor Happy Harry Cox is the new CEO?
Dick Peters is in charge of newspaper inserts.
We will file this comment in the pun column.
(“Column?” Get it?)
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
I know I’ll never shop there.
Saw a sign somewhere that said (at a gun shop)
"we sell AR's, we are not Dick's"
Out of curiosity, I looked up their annual revenue and $250M represents only a 2.6% decline, so not awful at first glance. But the writer of the linked article really did a shallow analysis, missing a chance to accentuate the most important points. Number one, this bullshit started in 2018, after the Parkland school shooting, so that $250M decline for 2021 is from an already declined level for 2020 and 2019. In other words they are CONTINUING to decline years after making their stupid business decision. Conservatives and gun owners are not forgetting or forgiving.
Number two, 2021 was a year when retail gun sales soared, to unprecedented levels, so any company that used to sell guns who saw a revenue decline, lost a whole lot more than 2.6%. They would have seen a mammoth revenue INCREASE if not for their woke idiocy.
Sounds to me like you did what a good honest journalist should have done. Dug a bit deeper into the numbers. So if the sales were down by 250M for 2021. It is possible in the last four reporting years the loss could be aiming to be close to a billion dollars.
I would guess more than a billion. Much more.
It was a conservative estimate. It slipped by too "aiming"
And yet their stock price is rising this month. Makes no sense because I don't really see them surviving as a business, I really don't. Selling expensive jackets and kids' team gear? People buy that shit on the Internet now. They turned off all the high-end sportsmen who were buying their hunting and fishing gear. In the long run, I think they're toast. Retail sales in box stores is a dying thing. You need to have a niche that draws people into the building, and they crapped all over their niche.
I go to Cabela's or BassPro now.
Gosh, did anybody see that coming?
Nope! LOL
Get woke, go broke.
