George Orwell wrote 1984. Australia said, “Hold my beer…” You have to read this to believe it. The writer uses the phrase “dystopian hellscape” and it is not hyperbole. With this latest move, a required phone app that uses geolocation and facial recognition to make sure every citizen is quarantined inside their own home, that is exactly what Australia has become.

The first thing I do when I get a new phone is turn off Location Services.
I suppose they will have to now make it a crime not to possess a phone.
Australians used to be very similar to Americans, except with funny accents. Unfortunately their sheep have apparenty mutated into beings which look like people but still act like sheep.
Good point. I have one friend who still uses a flip phone. I don't think he can even load apps, and I know he doesn't have a camera for facial recognition.
I read someplace they're phasing them out. That's one way to get people to comply with their cell phone spying efforts.
