      • Thanks for the tip. Never heard of Startpage but I checked it out. They use Google but they strip the privacy-invasion out of the search before giving you the results, so if you think DuckDuckGo isn't giving you results as good as Google's, Startpage seems like the place to go. On the downside, since Google is known to skew search results in favor of the left, why would anyone want Google results even without the privacy invasion? I guess I'll stick with DuckDuckGo and make Startpage my second choice.

        • As Ghost suggests, yes, it went by the name Ixquick until recently. Its boast is "The world's most private search engine." I've used it for more years than I can recall now, but was NOT aware it was running through the Goog. Although I did notice for the firs time, just within the last week I believe, that some search I was doing seemed to be turning up suspiciously slanted results. I do have Duck loaded as an alternative, maybe I'll start using that more frequently -- or switching over entirely.
