Good afternoon everyone. I spent two years on a MLB station in Coos Bay and I hate to see stories like this. I was lean, mean and wilder than a three balled tomcat at the time, serving in Cambodia for 13 months back then did that to a lot of men. But losing a child on a rescue callout hurt big time. We lost two when a fishing boat went down during bad weather and the guy had his kids with him. Our CO at the time sent a teammate to tell me and another guy to call it off. We had been searching for hours, it was almost dark, there was no hope of finding those kids alive. I am known to be a hard man but when it comes to kids? Hell, they can wrap me around their finger. Never met a child I did not adore.

I am the last man you want ask about marital advise, been married and divorced 5 times. But I still remember my younger years before I want into the military. Maybe if I had stayed home instead my life would have been different. Too late now, I am who I am and it is not easy for a woman to stay around for very long. But it is nice to think about the younger days when times were more simple.
I'm 64 now and the memories get on me worse these days. And I think that is true of most old veterans, the older we get the more we remember. Especially those vets who are no longer with us.
I'm not much for reality shows but anyone remember this clip from Britain has talent? Susan Boyle is a hell of a singer if you like that kind of music.
Y'all excuse me I get a bit down and post some sad stuff. Memorial Day is only a month away and it is a tough time for me. Not only do I remember the men I served with who are no longer with us, my youngest son was killed in a car wreck on Memorial Day 2006.
If I get a little out of line I apologize now because the next few weeks things will get weird. I grew up hard, been known to be a hard man, but that does not mean I have no feelings. Toby Keith did great with this soldier who had been in Afghanistan and had him on stage with his wife.
