This video is from a rescue mission in Alaska and it is some wild shit. But the old saying then was you had to go out, you didn't have to make it back in. So we did, no questions or whining, just getting out there and doing the job of helping people.
I served almost 2 years in Coos Bay, Oregon. We were a search and rescue station and survived some bad shit. I couldn't find any videos from Coos Bay but you can look my avatars to get an idea. This video is from Bodega Bay and these guys were playing like we always did. But we were all crazy back then, most of us war vets and didn't care!
Never could be a cop, those guys, and now girls, put up with a lot of crap and I am not a patient person. Funny story, I was asked if I wanted to join the county sheriff's department after spending 30 days for assault after getting into a fight in my favorite beer joint at the time. I had known the local sheriff for years and he asked me if I wanted to wear a badge. And I told him no. I was fresh out of the military and had no patience for stupid people. And my attitude has not changed much over the years.
Now that the good news about StrinaM is in and JP's comment I'm already on a patriotic roll. Just watch all the baseball players and fans stand proud while Brad Paisley sings the national anthem. Lol...When I was in the service there was no such thing as cell phones, computers any of the stuff we have today. We just walked in the door and yelled "Honey I'm home"!
Dammit, you got me started. I'm not an educated man and a lot of what I say around here I say with music. I know guys who went through this and some of them died because they couldn't handle it and their memories too.
When I took my WWII father to see Lone Survivor, (Watching Lone Survivor with a WWII infantryman) that's the thing that amazed him the most, that soldiers at the front could communicate with their families in real time, and communicate amongst themselves and with their superiors during active combat. In his time, you were lucky if a letter from your wife ever found you and communication during active combat meant slapping a private on the back and telling him to crawl over to so-and-so and tell him such-and-such, and you could only hope the poor private kept his ass down and didn't get killed carrying the message.
Sounds like your father was a good man. I served 13 months as a brown water sailor in Cambodia and letters from home was what held us together. But we were always on patrol and sometimes we didn't get mail for 30, 40, even 50 days. Get back to base and we would have lots of mail to read. It helped us stay as sane as we were ever going to be after seeing the shit we saw. Letters from home were lifesavers.
Alright StrinaM! Great news! My grandson got back from his third deployment in Afghanistan in January so I have an idea of how happy you are! Give him a big hug from me and tell him this old veteran is proud of him!
I have had several wives over the years and they are the reason our kids were ugly! hahaha... See everyone tomorrow.

I don't know if you can call it direct war when the battle is taking place in Syria and disguised by proxies. When an American cruise missile kills a Russian soldier in Syria, is that direct war between Russia and the U.S.?
Are Iran and Israel Headed for Their First Direct War? Headed for! The Iranian buildup in Syria is a serious threat that Israel will have to deal with.
Up again early today and reading the news. First Lady Barbara Bush died yesterday, a sad moment for all. She was a classy lady, a strong woman, but she lived 92 years and had a good life. Rest in peace Mrs. Bush, you earned it.
