IOC bans all Russian athletes from 2016 Olympics. They left some wiggle room by allowing individual athletes to make a case for why they should be excluded from the blanket ban but, with the games starting in eleven days and most sports bureaucrats already on their way to Rio, there isn’t much time for that.

Meanwhile, the Australians are refusing to allow their athletes to live in the Olympic Village:

Sounds like this whole Olympics is turning into a flustercuck.
I don't really GAS, it just means more medals for the USA. They and a bunch of Eastern Bloc countries boycotted The Olympic Games in L.A in 1984. No great loss as far as I'm concerned.
It costs a lot of Rubles to chemically enhance an Athlete, I'm betting Putin is pissed.
This is so weird. All the newspapers are full of reports about how this is NOT a blanket ban, with anti-doping people pissing and moaning all over the world that Russia did NOT get the blanket ban they deserved. But if you read the decision at the link, it IS a blanket ban with individuals allowed to appeal to their sport's governing body. No doubt Russian bribe money will be flowing into Rio over the next two weeks to make sure some of those appeals are granted, but it looks like the track people already made up their minds: no Russians will be running, jumping, hurdling, throwing, etc. That's a lot of athletes banned right there. Sounds like the tennis people are going to let the Russian tennis players in, ditto with some of the judo athletes... but without any track & field athletes, Russia isn't going to win many medals.
Frankly, they are the lucky ones.
Between Zika, and the criminal element in Rio, I wouldn't go there even if it was my last chance to compete.
Was just thinking the very same thing, actually!!
