Iowa governor says don’t vote for Cruz because he’s against ethanol subsidies. What the crony-capitalist bastard neglects to mention is that his family makes money off those ethanol subsidies. So it’s not Iowa Mr. Branstad is worried about–it’s his own wallet.

About 10 years ago then mayor Marty Chavez, the Little Napolean, was going to turn the Albuquerque P.D. into a green operation. The city bought 15 cars that ran on E-85 gas, wasted over $250,000 to build the cops their own gas station, and not one car lasted one year. They were replacing heads at 10,000 miles, fuel pumps every month, engines shot by 30,000 miles and all the cars junked.
Corn is food, gasoline is motor fuel, and if the ethanol industry cannot stand on its own then the program needs to die a quick death. Besides, with all the new technology, computerized fuel injected engines and such, todays cars would probably run very well on regular unleaded gas without much difference in the emissions counts.
Gotta hand it to Trump, he once again shows what a bunch of self serving assholes these so called 'Public Servants" really are.

J.P. - As difficult as it is to reduce everything to one problem (or question), you are touching on it right there.
Politicians (in the best case), confuse "gov't" with "country" (or state, county, city, whatever their jurisdiction). They think that they are "the country"

Ethanol is murder on my fuel efficiency. Cruz standing firm against this even though Iowa is such a big deal in nomination politics says a lot to me.
Yup...it took a lotta guts, AND principle, for Cruz to stand up against ethanol. It's a bad idea all the way around...except for Iowa farmers. CORPORATE farmers, at that. I say legalize moonshine. Problem solved.
It also screws up many rubber parts of fuel injection systems and carburetors. They tried this shit back in the 70's in North Dakota, and so many vehicles were damaged they gave up. Corn, it's what's for dinner, now what powers your car. WE have a glut of oil, maybe we should use that instead of plowing fenceline to fenceline and planting corn which by the way really tears up the ground and sucks up soil nutrients. Repeated planting of corn without rotating it with other crops can kill a field.
Corn also, surprisingly enough, makes GREAT ice cream.

That's exactly right! The ethanol mandate has hurt many more than it has helped. It has taken food from people, and caused even worse gas mileage, and as a result, a net gain in carbon output, not to mention damaging engines.
