I'm not so sure he ever served his country. Not even when he was in the Navy. According to some, he caused the Forrestal disaster that killed some of his fellow servicemen and they had to transfer him off the boat immediately before his fellow servicemen beat the snot out of him. Then he somehow acquired the nickname "Songbird" while he was a POW. It certainly helped that he had an admiral father and admiral grandfather to cover up these things. Then, worst of all, he spent his entire political career covering up what happened to him as a POW--so clearly there was something to be ashamed of--and covering up information about POWs still held in Vietnam.
Lots of rumors, no proven facts, that does not impress me. You cannot deny the fact that McCain had to have several operations on his legs so he could walk without crutches again. You cannot deny the fact he had multiple operations on his arms but never again would he raise them above shoulder level.
I'm not defending McCain and his years as a Senator. What I am saying is none of us walked a mile in his shoes and have no idea as to what he went through as a POW. And neither does anyone else who was not there. Everyone at the Hanoi Hilton was in isolation, no real contact with each other, so who knows how many others may have sang a tune or two just to stop the torture, we just haven't heard the rumors because they are not a prominent figure in politics.
It's hard to get proof when the perpetrator is an admiral's son. But we do know that the Forrestal fire was caused by an inadvertently fired rocket. That's the official cause. But what made that rocket fire? That plane was right behind McCain's and McCain is accused of "wet starting" his jet as a prank, accused by crewmen who were there that dat. This causes a plume of smoke and fire to pour out on the jet parked behind you, which of course might be the reason the rocket inadvertently fired. In fact, the rocket went right through McCain's wing, telling you he was right in front of it. And I don't quibble so much about his "songbird" nickname because he broke and spilled his guts, but because he spent the next fifty years making sure nobody could get any information about missing POWs, just to cover up what he did.
As I stated he served his country. That he did. Then he sat about serving himself and messing over the USA. Even to the point of attempting to over turn a duly election because someone he didn’t agree with won and wasn’t part of the swamp.
I'll just remember him for his feeble 'but, but, but Joe the plumber' offense on the obama campaign. He had a woman doing his dirty work, thank you Sarah, because he believed he could win the country over by staying above the fray. Looking back, I think I'd feel more honor in saying I voted for obama.
Now we have to listen to the media rave about the louse for the next two weeks. "Squirrel!" He was dishonorable to the end, collecting a paycheck as a Senator long after he could no longer do the job and occupying a seat that could have been occupied by a living functioning conservative. Every six years he ran as a conservative and Arizona voters fell for it every time, then as soon as he won the election he went back to grazing the fields of D.C. as a RINO.
I remember Rush discussing McCain's 2008 campaign and what a shock it must have been for him to discover the left falling out of love with the "Maverick".
JP - you are spot on about the 6 year cycle. The only times McCain ever espoused conservatism was during the 8 weeks before an election. I could never understand why the residents of Arizona fell for it. Every. Single. Time.
Yeah. Been staying away from the news because of this. Feel for his family, respect the veteran, but I did not like the politician. Not really enthused to hear all about him for the next news cycle.
That absolute BULLSHIT press release on Friday was nothing more than an attempt to gain positive attention for this vile, self-seving, swamp dweller. Nobody dies within 24 hours after refusing "medical" treatment. That old goat was on morphine for the pain, and I know from first hand experience, when you start administering morphine like that, it slows down your heart and you die very quickly. These people have NO SHAME 😠
