Macy’s plans to close 100 stores

Macy’s plans to close 100 stores. We wonder how much of this is due to Trumpsters cutting up their credit cards?

  • I think that in the process of glomming up other stores (such as A & S), and changing them to Macy's, they oversaturated some markets. Here in northern NJ, I am within an hour's drive from definitely 5 Macy's stores, possibly 7. In Paramus, they have 2 stores within about 2-3 miles of each other. Same with Short HIlls Mall and Livingston Mall - about a 10 minute drive apart

  • My last two visits to Macy's were a shock. Both here and in Denver, the stores were poorly stocked, dirty and the employees really did not give a sh*t about any requests I made. I had one guy that didn't even look up from his cell phone, he just pointed me in the direction of where I should go to find pants.
Every five minutes the loudspeaker announced an employee name and that they had been recognized and awarded some sort of bonus for doing what they were being paid for. With todays available tech, the only thing a customer should ever hear on the loudspeaker in any store is announcing a lost child to customers. The rest of that racket is an annoying distraction that they can discreetly pipe into an earpiece or cell of the employees.

  • Brick and mortar retailers have been in decline for over twenty years so this isn't anything new, especially after the ascent of E-shopping. Even Wally World has slowed expansion and for awhile there they were dropping new locations everywhere.

    • When you're standing there in the store, deciding on a purchase, and you can instantly look it up and find you can get it for a lot less online, and have it tomorrow, I can understand why it's difficult to keep stores open.
