Merck scraps COVID-19 vaccines that produced ‘inferior’ immune response. This makes us wonder how useful or useless the other vaccines are? Time will tell.
Early-stage studies found that Merck’s two experimental shots produced immune responses that were “inferior” to those generated by other COVID-19 vaccines, the company said.
The vaccine candidates also provoked immune responses weaker than those seen after someone is naturally infected with the virus even though the shots were “generally well tolerated,” according to a Merck news release.

I don't care. I won't get the vaccine for at least 2 years.
I want to see what the death rate is for people that got the shot.
Yeah, me too. Well, no, actually I will probably never get it. I don't believe in vaccines for innocuous diseases.
These shots are highly experimental and the video I watched had a doctor saying the possible bad outcomes will come in three waves, immediate, short-term, and long-term. The first wave is the people you see dying right afterward, within a day or two, of which there are more than most people realize. The second wave is a tiring effect, like a low-grade infection that lingers for weeks, I can't remember what she called it, which will wear older people right out, possibly killing them. And the third possibility is a low-grade autoimmune condition that will last the rest of your life, because these shots are basically genetically altering your cells to produce virus segments, mimicking the actual virus... so what the hell happens if your immune system decides your own cells are the enemy?

My "at least 2 years" comment was meant to be that I will watch and see what happens.
I'm not a vaccine person either.
When I was in the Air Force they made us get the flu shot every year, and I got the flu every year.
In the 35 years since, I never got the shot and have had the flu 3 times. Since covid is similar to the flu, I like my chances.
One of the things people seldom mention when talking about the sacrifices made by veterans, is the huge load of vaccines a soldier is subjected to. Any new foreign country, the Pentagon has a list of vaccines they have to take. And you know from experience, there is no choice involved: you get the shots. Many people still think the mysterious ailments of Gulf War One vets was from the huge number of vaccines they were given before shipping out for the Middle East.
And then, of course, you also know in the back of your mind, whatever they are shooting into your arm or butt was manufactured by some company that was the low bidder for that particular military contract...
