Duh. Demonstrates that prizes given prior to deserving them are generally prizes that people don't deserve. What a revelation. Also, and more importantly, they admit to issuing prizes in ways that are politically motivated (PC) and to influence individuals. They should have just said, "We gave it to him cos he's... oh wait, we can't actually say that."
