PGA Tour moves tournament from Miami Donald Trump course … to Mexico

PGA Tour moves tournament from Miami Donald Trump course … to Mexico. Yes folks, the PGA brain trust feels that corrupt countries with drug cartels and mass murder are much better than Donald Trump.

  • You would almost think that the PGA was rooting for Trump. This was a huge mistake on their part in 3D persuasion. Trump is going to run with this. If they had gone somewhere else in the USA it would have been no big deal but mexico? Talk about not thinking.

  • Trump is right about one thing. The PGA better bring all the body guards. NASCAR stopped going to Mexico City and running the road course there when it had to use the Mexican Military and fully armed escorts to get the teams equipment in and out of Mexico.

    • Someone mention kidnapping?

(CNN) — A professional soccer player who was kidnapped in Mexico Saturday night has been rescued by authorities, according to state officials -- largely thanks to his own heroics.

Mexican international and Olympiacos striker Alan Pulido was kidnapped Saturday night in Ciudad Victoria, the capital of Tamaulipas state, and managed to call police and alert them to his location after a scuffle with one of his captors.

"After midnight last night there was a phone call to 066 from soccer player Alan Pulido and in a moment of carelessness by his captors in the place where he was, he was able to make a phone call asking for help, and giving (his) location where he was," state prosecutor Ismael Quintanilla said during a press conference.

Pulido's right hand was bandaged in the video. It was damaged when Pulido broke a pane of glass in a door during his escape, Quintanilla said during a phone interview with Mexican radio station Imagen.

"I'm good, I'm good, thank you," Alan Pulido said as he faced reporters alongside the governor of Mexico's Tamaulipas state, Egidio Torre Cantú, in a video posted on Twitter.

Quintanilla said that Pulido has been attended to by medical staff including psychologists, and would join his family in Monterrey.

The 25-year-old, a striker for Greece's Olympiacos club has also played in the past for Mexico's national team, most significantly during the 2014 World Cup campaign. He had not been called up for this year's Copa America tournament in the United States, which kicks off June 3.

He was rescued shortly before midnight Sunday in "a city operation in conjunction with the federal government," according to a statement from the Tamaulipas government.

"Pulido is currently being medically evaluated and more details on the rescue operation will be sent out later," it said.

Ciudad Victoria has been one of Mexico's most brutal battlegrounds in conflicts between rival drug cartels.

Hundreds of kidnappings were reported in the border state last year, although activists say the true tally of missing people is likely under-reported and actually much higher.

...if ANYTHING happens to ANYONE involved with this tourney, especially ANY of the players, Trump will look prophetic, & if he's President & something happens, look out.

  • “It’s quite ironic we’re going to Mexico after being at Doral,” Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, the world’s third-ranked golfer, said at a news conference Wednesday. “We’ll just jump over the wall.”

    Thread win for Rory?

    • According to the PGA spokesman, it was not about politics, but sponsorship. However, they haven't said what course in Mexico they were going to hold it at.
What gets me is, they could have picked from many outstanding courses in the US, why move it to Mexico, unless they're doing it as a welfare program, in which case, it would be better played in Puerto Rico.

      • Trump & his stance on the border was the target here, & that cannot be denied. That is why it's going to Mexico, but I will say Puerto Rico would be a better alternative, but they already had a tourney there in March, where Tony Finau, -12defeated Steve Marino, -12 in a playoff. Ian Poulter missed the playoff by 1 shot at -11.

      • All of the professional sports are trying to do this, go international and catch viewers and fans in new places. The NFL already has two games in London and is talking about a game in Japan this year. I think it's ridiculous. Golf is already way ahead of the others as far as international appeal, but most of that is happening outside the purview of the PGA. Maybe they decided to head into Central and South America before the European tour or the Asian tour grabs it first.
