Police officer accused of fatally shooting an unarmed black man will face criminal charges. Officer Betty Shelby, the Tulsa police officer who fatally shot Terence Crutcher, has been charged with manslaughter and a warrant for her arrest has been issued. That was awfully fast. Appears the decision was made to try to avoid riots in Tulsa that rival Charlotte.

The ME released the cause and manner of his death this morning. Says the gunshot wound was to the chest and the manner is homicide. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but from the video it looks like when he fell to the ground, presumably from the gunshot, he was facing the vehicle, not the officers. Would make a chest wound pretty hard, if not impossible, wouldn't it?

    • probly has to do with the medical terminology for the entry point of the bullet, coming from Terrence's right, if the cop was the blonde closest to the left rear of the vehicle then it would be strange to see he was shot in the back. ventral and dorsal come into play here, i think.

    • I don't think it will happen here in Tulsa. I have a theory on why there are no violent protests/riots here compared to places like Charlotte and Baltimore. Look up the 2010 census for all three cities and examine the racial makeup of all three. Baltimore is 63% black and 29% white. Charlotte is 35% black and 45% white. Tulsa is 16% black and 63% white. I believe it's because of our proportion of whites/blacks. There are way more whites compared to blacks here. Even in lawless Chicago it's 33% blacks and 45% whites. Could be a coincidence, but it's in interesting theory.

  • Disgusting. If you watch that video from the beginning, not just the part where he's by the car, he clearly ignores all commands and walks away. Why would a guy walk away from officers with their guns drawn, against their commands, and walk to the open window of his car? I don't blame her for shooting him. At that point, she has to assume the worst.

    • He had a lengthy criminal history, which included a conviction for resisting arrest. He figured he would get by as always, & was wrong...

    • I was wondering the same thing JP. So many difference variations are coming up here, hard to make out what is what. Lots of rumors of rioters heading this way too. There was a protester in front of the Tulsa Police Department that stated "The only good white man is a dead white man." Pretty scary.
