Posh school’s plan to segregate students by race draws parents’ ire

Posh school’s plan to segregate students by race draws parents’ ire. It appears some of the NYC elites have it ass backwards. Or perhaps segregation is on their hidden agenda?

  • Leave it to an over educated liberal loon to forget history. Back in the 60's the yankees in the northeast were screaming about school segregation in the south. The south eventually ended the policy and kids have been doing fine since. Now those same yankees are trying to segregate kids according to race in their high dollar schools?

Don't those fools understand that any parent who can afford a $43,000 dollar cost for their child to go to school might be a pretty sharp individual no matter what their skin color is? And their children might be some bright kids no matter the color of their skin?

Crap like this is one more reason I am glad I was raised in New Mexico. In the 60's we just had schools. White kids went to school with Hispanic kids who went to school with black kids who went to school with Indian kids. None of us gave a damn about skin color, we were just kids going to school.

I still remember the 5th grade when we left the mountains and dad got a road construction job in Deming, NM. Deming was a huge cotton growing area and a lot of black folks were brought in to work in the cotton fields. A lot of their descendants still live there today. Being the new kid on the block, an outsider, I was the butt of jokes and bullies bothering me. I never was much for backing down but this one kid was a tough kid and I never could whip his ass. One day this black kid in my class stood with me and hit that bully so hard the back of his head hit the dirt before his ass did and he told the guy to leave me alone, I was his friend. ;That was the end of the jokes and bullying. Being poor working folks like we were we got along fine. The first time he invited me to his house I asked him if he was sure, I was a white boy and might not be welcome. He drug me to his house and introduced me to his mother and his 5 brothers and sisters. I had never felt so welcome in a strangers home. He told his momma what happened and she drug me into the kitchen and told me to sit down, she had made fresh pork skins and gave me a big plate of them. We stayed friends until the company moved us to a different job and I never saw them again.

I don't remember the families name, this was in 1963. The year JFK was murdered. But I will never forget their kindness and hospitality. That is the kind of world I grew up in, real tolerance for others and nobody gave a crap about skin color. Too bad so many in our country cannot learn the same tolerance and respect for others. Especially the idiots in so-called education.

      • LOL...Did you get west of Lordsburg, 6 miles from the Arizona line and see this huge truckstop called Shady Grove? It was snowing a little, the radio was predicting an ice storm so I whipped the old Peterbuilt in to fuel, get something to eat and take a nap. When I woke up a few hours later I-10 was closed due to ice and accidents and the place was packed. The parking lot was full. Trucks were parked on the side of the two lane highway going to Rodeo, about a mile of them. Cars were packed into the car parking areas, even double parked one behind the other. It was a frigging mess.

I went to the Shady Grove bar for a beer, or two, and at about 2am a state cop came in and told the bar tender she had to close up, it was the law. That gal told the statie she had about 2,000 drivers out there with no place else to go, about 300 in the bar, and if he wanted the bar to close he was going to have to do it because no way was she going to try it. He looked around then left without another word. Hell of a storm, we were stuck there for three days. Good thing I had gotten fuel first thing and I had a grub box under my bunk with things like spam, Vienna sausages, canned fruit, that sort of things because the restaurant almost ran out of food. Nobody going out, no deliveries coming in. Even the bar was running short of hooch and that may have caused a riot!

    • There's a lot of truth in that statement. I just got certified as a designated instructor with my company.

Anyone who's been here for more than a week or two knows what a complete dipshit I can be.
