  • Republicans and democrats both must be having sh!t fits. The main reason I like Trump being elected is because he isn't a mainstream/establishment/career politician. Do I think he'll make a good president? I have no fricking idea.

  • Good riddance. Arrogant bitch. She said she wasn't refusing to defend it for legal reasons so much as her personal concern about whether Trump's action was "wise or just." THAT'S NOT YOUR JOB, BUREAUCRAT! I think she should be disbarred or made to pay part of her past earnings back to the government. After all, she was accepting a salary to do a job and when it came to do that job she refused. How is that not thievery?

      • One, it's not her job to determine constitutionality and two, THAT'S NOT WHAT SHE SAID. What she said was that her decision was mostly about whether Trump's executive order was "wise or just." Her words. When you show me where in the Constitution it says that temporary AGs have the authority to decide what is wise and just for the whole country, get back to me.

        She's a lawyer, specifically the government's lawyer. Her job is to handle the government's legal disputes. She collected a salary for it. She didn't perform.

        The president's authority to declare such suspensions can been found in section 212(f) of the INA, the pertinent part of which reads as follows:

        "(f) Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate."
