Seattle Gun Tax Revenue Falls, And Fails, Again

Seattle Gun Tax Revenue Falls, And Fails, Again. According to Newton, what goes up goes down. In this case, what never went up goes down. Another liberal gun-control fail.

CO2Insanity: Tired of the CO2 BS and all the other BS in the US and the world.

  • And being who I am I have to post a couple of songs honoring our veterans. The battle will rage on in our minds. Makes no sense to those of you who don't know but that is the way it is. Because it is who we are, who we will always be.

  • This is no different from the so-called "sin taxes" on alcohol and tobacco products. New Mexico got $54.3 million from big tobacco companies in 2017, where is the money? The idiots in Santa Flush wanted to raise the tax on a pack of ciggies another $1.50 this year, thankfully Governor Martinez shot that down. The idiots do not understand that the more they tax things like cigs the more people quit or go to the many Indian reservation smoke shops where they don't have to charge the state tax. I don't smoke cigarettes anymore, quit about 5 years ago, but I still like to chew on a cigar. 4 or 5 per day depending on my alcohol intake (snicker) and I order them from the reservation smoke shop of choice. I get a box of 8 packs of 5 cigars for about $20 bucks cheaper than if I bought them locally. All because of state taxes. My mother will be 83 next month, still smokes, and she gets her cigs mailed to her from the same reservation smoke shop I get my cigars from. $32 dollars instead of $54 at the local store.

The point is these fools think raising taxes will cure the alcohol or smoking or gun problems when nothing could be further from the truth. Because people will find a way to get around the tax like quitting smoking, or drinking or just going somewhere else to buy what they want. Look at all the New Yorkers who buy their smokes and booze in New Jersey because of taxes? Costing New York tens of millions per year. You would think the idiots who get elected to take care of our business would get the message.

  • Gee seattle will have to raise the soda tax to offset the loss. What a bunch of idiots...clueless idiots.

    • The mayor of our capitol Santa Fe, tried that last year. He wanted to tax all "sugery drinks", including things like Kool-Aid and those cans of lemonaide mixes. As liberal as that city is even the people living there realized that a pack of Kool-Aid was going to cost $4 bucks. A can of that lemonaide mix was going to go from $8 dollars to over $24 because his tax was based on the fluid ounce "potential". So they got smart and shot that idea down.

    • Which is why they started teaching kids in school "common core math" with that F'ed up system you can get just about ANY answer you want.

      • Schools started this "new math" crap when my kids were in school and I couldn't figure it out when they needed some help. And I am a friggin' engineer! I used math every day to figure out cubic yards of concrete or cubic feet of asphalt or how many yards of dirt we would need to move from point a to point b to level a roadbed! And I could not figure out what the f**k the teachers were talking about with that "new math" nonsense. And I'm sure all this "common core" crap is just as stupid. It cost me a ton of money, money I could have used to live in Costa Rica by now, to make sure my grandchildren went to private schools because pubic edekashun has gotten so sorry. And I don't regret it one bit, at least the kids got a decent education instead of an indoctrination.

    • That's like California's gun-control bullshit. I read about an illegal gun dealer in Oakland who claims his business has never been so good.
